I will always think of this as the fandango dance sequence, between Debbie (Suzy Amis) and Gardner (Kevin Costner) in the San Elizario Plaza (El Paso), from the 1985 movie 'Fandango'. A very entertaining, highly underrated movie!

To me, "jazz" is just anything that can't be classified strictly as something else... "The Awakening" has an Irish flair, and "Facing West" a country angle, but it can still go under "jazz". I agree with you though. Pat Metheny uses his guitar to express feelings instead of putting them into words. Amazes me how he says the hardest thing is naming songs... ~"We can write this stuff all day long, but names are tough".

I first heard this song during the wedding scene in Fandango. Been in love with this song ever since. It just kinda speaks to me.
@bethanyswedhin50113 жыл бұрын
I actually got to see DOM, got to stand in the gazebo were the wedding took place. I got to eat at the Dairy Queen that "closes at eight" but they went to Sonic instead. That was probably the best trip I've ever been on with my dad, who introcuded me to what has become our movie. We went everywhere they did in that movie

Well I can tell you the studio version is presto, this is prestissimo. The famous orgasmic bridge is absent in this version. There is a long Lyle Mays track called As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls, on side A. 20min. Better then this. If u can imagine. Its not on yt. I have to say though, Metheny's guitar almost burst into flames here.

A tale of a different age. It was 1982, a Sunday morning and I had all but given up on radio rock as it had gotten so bad, I began listening to the local college jazz station, they were playing a "new age" music program and this song came on , no announcer, I didn't know who it was but had to find out. Looked at my watch and wrote down the time. Next day I went to the station and begged they look up for me what was played at that time. They did ! Went and bought "First Circle" and American Garage" damn near wore them tapes out and have been a huge Pat and Lyle(R.I.P Lyle) fan since then. Saw them in concert...amazing ! This changed my whole taste in music.
