Thanks for sharing your drafting methodology. I have saved this for a future project, I am making some new blocks because of some body changes so need to get on that first. But I love this dress and believe it will suit my body shape well! 😍 As always, love your videos, your tips and your easy to understand teaching style. You have a fantabulous week too 🙏🏻

It is amazing to see the way that your brain works. I loved the finished garment and thought it looked absolutely fab on you and especially the length . I still can't figure out how you obtained all this knowledge in a short period of time? You said I believe you have only been sewing for a short period of time? Have to go watch that video again. Thanks for sharing your process.

Hi! I'm trying to make this work for a maternity dress. I'm a little confused when you start drawing the lines to spread the bodice. What made you draw your first line at the angle you chose as opposed to starting a certain distance from the waist piece? I'm still very new to sewing so sorry is this is obvious!

Hi Susanne, Thank you so much for this drafting tutorial. I can't wait to make this up for work, it's the perfect dress for us going into winter. Can you please provide a link to the tutorial from Diane's youtube channel? I am finding it difficult to find the exact one for the knit bodice :o( Thank you Mel

How do you know how much extra to add to a pattern via the slash and spread method? Do you drape straight on your body? These are questions I have always wanted the answer to. Thank you.
@SewCustom
@SewCustom 5 жыл бұрын
For me Janette it’s a lot of trial and error. I watched a tonne of KZbin videos trying to understand the technique and then jumped into the patterning. I had to make a good few toiles before I I felt I had technique right. Once that was done i could then get a little creative with the pattern👍. I had a go at draping some time ago which was totally unsuccessful😩
@paraboo8994
@paraboo8994 4 жыл бұрын
@@SewCustom since you already had a few goes at slashing and spreading your pattern pieces, I just have to ask: Do you think you'd have to slash wider for a plus size figure? I'll be starting on a similar dress soon and I've never done sthg like that before. My intuition tells me to spread wider apart but then again it could make it look bulkier instead of more flattering 😯

Do the characteristics of your knit fabric (%stretch, etc.) affect how the pattern is drafted?
@SewCustom
@SewCustom 5 жыл бұрын
This patterning technique can be applied to any pattern, the main consideration for me is the block I choose for the starting point. For this one, a two way stretch fabric, the appropriate block is the stretch/knit👍
