The Cost Professionals such as Quantity Surveyors,Cost Engineers etc. are forgetting one important thing. Interim Payment arrangement is one place where they can show their talent.I know a smart QS who made lot of money by making manipulation in the arrangements arrangements.

In Western Australia, 24% of all business insolvencies are construction companies, or more specifically building sub-contractors. They fail even when they have plenty of work in the pipeline. They fail because they lose control of cash flow. They fail because the oppressive nature of the industry forces the smallest players to effectively provide interest free finance for the owner's construction project. Would a lawyer provide legal services and get paid 55 days after providing the services? None that I have met. Lawyers only work when the client has provided money in advance on account of the legal services to be rendered. When the client stops paying, the lawyer stops working. So should building subcontractors.

Construction was not this way when i started in 1983. The Contractors boards and many other people have skinned the industry of profits. They could care less about contractors or customers. they are in it for profit period
