Thank you all for supporting me on this 5 month journey, it has truly been a fun ride that I hope will age well.✌ I would also like to state that the vast majority of my research regarding this documentary came from the book "The Innocence of Wilhelm II" by author Christina Croft. While I may have credited the author in the description, I wanted to also bring additional light to the work since I see it as extremely important. In fact, some of the passages and paragraphs in the video are taken directly from her work, word-for-word since she makes an excellent case regarding the Kaiser. I would very highly recommend all of you buy her book since it also goes into detail about many issues I never mentioned, especially regarding his years before becoming Kaiser.

HA! In Florida governor deSantis is banning any book that has only ONE complaint and usually the adult (members of Moms for Liberty, which acts as watch dogs for kids who want to read books but are not allowed to do so in school. And these adults have not even read the book. Further, there can be no discussion about LBGTQ issues. What are LGBTQ kids supposed to do? What guidance counselor or principal can they go to to report bullying or vandalism of their belongings? Teachers have to tip toe around issues, NOT teaching that America has a history and problem with racism, diversity, etc. The only way to prevent another Hitler, or Trump for that matter is to honestly teach the history so it never happens again. ANY nation can fall for a lying, bombastic power hungry sociopath or be highly pressured to vote for that person whether it be Hitler, Trump of Putin. This is the way sociopaths act.

The Germans should be proud of their heritage and history, they are great and they have much to be proud of and the German empire is no exception. The German empire accomplished many great things and the Germans should be proud of that. The world should recognize that. I as a German, am proud of our heritage and history. Especially the German empire and everything that it accomplished and achieved for our nation and people. Also, thanks for doing your part to undue this fabricated and unjust villianization of the German empire. people, especially the Germans, should know the truth about the German empire and appreciate it for their accomplishments and achievements. Thankfully I've noticed in recent years that more and more people, especially Germans are waking up to this fact. That is good.

As you briefly mentioned, the Kaiser vacationed in Norway. He was always a great friend to this country. When the city of Ålesund was destroyed in a fire the Kaiser gave 12 000 kr of his own money to help rebuild. There is no doubt he was a good man and while things may not have worked out for him in the end, I have no doubt he recieved his reward in Heaven. God bless you, Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Well, millions of men DID die for the Kaiser and for no reason whatsoever. It got those poor soldiers NOTHING -- death in "no man's land", gas that ruined lungs and slowly killed them, gas that blinded them, parts of bodies blown away, and ruination of Germany with huge war reparations forced upon it. Was it God's will that the Kaiser made war? Uh, I don't think so. Men have free will and the Kaiser fomented militarism, bombast and boasting how his country was THEE best. This brought on Hitler, who blamed the Jews for everything -- the war, reparations, so on and so forth. The 20th century was not a sterling time for Germany. And then it was divided for decades. I wonder how Germans feel now about their peaceful government. In the US, we really liked Angela Merkel. I am of German heritage and from a very Germanic area in Pennsylvania but I am not enamored with German's militaristic attitude from the world wars. Together, the Kaiser and Hitler caused the deaths of probably, oh, ten million ppl. And then Stalin was just as bad, killing about 6 million of his OWN people -- the nobility who were executed and harassed to death, and death or the gulag for normal everyday people for no reason at all. He was a horrible blood-thirsty ghoul. I admire NONE of these men.

In 1916 Wilson warned the Germans about their sub attacks on his convoys to provide for Britain, which were a reply to Churchill's illegal food blockade against the German people. The Germans said: Okay we will stop our attacks but talk to the Brits about their crippling food blockade. After a year, in 1917, Wilson had done nothing, the Germans restarted their attacks. That"'s what happens usually with history, we are told the truth but only part of it, the parts that don't incriminate the country of the official history writers so the only way to get as close as possible to the truth is to read both versions of events, for example never trust the British to tell you the truth about Germany, and vice versa.

The whole unrestricted submarine warfare thing was so unfair. It was the United States AKA Woodrow Wilson and Great Britian AKA Churchill as the First Lord of the Admiralty, that were sending war material to England on luxury Liners, AKA the Lusitania. Churchill did not warn that ship that there was a German submarine prowling the waters right in front of her. So the allies allowed the deaths and the sinking of that ship just to get the US involved in the war.

I can't blame the Germans going through all that then Weimar for turning to a man like Adolf (more so his party, Hitler himself seems like he was little more than a tard wrangler trying to keep the worst aspects of his party from destroying what he'd built in the first 6 years) I mean he followed through on most of his promises, as an Australian if a politician brought my country back from its current state I'd die for him, he'd have earned the loyalty through his deeds. But that's beside the point, Germany has suffered much thanks to british propaganda. As an Anglo Australian, sorry cobber, that's our bad. Turns out water merchants are also great merchants of lies.

Germany and Austria were underdogs, Germany would be totally isolated if Austria Hungary fell which it was about to. So they decided to make the dumbass move and start an unwinnable war. Being myself proud of my German descent my recent ancestors having relatively recently settled in the United States I grew from being skeptical to the nature of the German Empire and Kaiser Wilhelm II depiction to us in school - to doubting the "facts" about him. Lavader, your documentary on this emperor and other emperors during that time shines truly new light on this crucial time in European and world history. Your documentary has fully convinced me of Kaiser Wilhelm II's blameless stance in the causation of the Great War, and has also proved to me that in many ways the Entente Powers were over all more to blame for the War. In (former) Entente nations, the Central Powers, and especially Germany's Kaiser is blamed for the cause or the precipitation of the war and accused to such a degree as one would if they were attempting to pin the blame on an innocent man of a crime he did not commit. Having now the perspective of the German side the situation regarding Germany's last Kaiser from over 100 years ago reminds me, albeit not a perfect fitting analogy, of John 15:18 which says, "If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first."

The struggle of being of German descent in America is real. Your taught in school the country your family came from is essentially the incarnate of evil and then you look across the pond and see the Germans submit to these narratives forsaking their own homeland. It’s in America I see more empathy for the German nation than from the German people themselves. Yet as an American your duty lies with America which has problems of it’s own leaving the redemption of Germany on the backs of the Germans who have yet to move past the world wars and still have a child like infatuation with socialism and communism.

I am an Egyptian and I want to say something. I have always been so angry whenever I looked at the Germans and saw the way they viewed their history, specially that of the last Kaiser. This nation was literally put into pure humiliation to the limit they despise their own history! Man, I still embrace Nasser the president that led to a catastrophic loss for our nation, I embrace him because he was not evil and I know it. I always thought to myself, a nation that caused famines in Egypt, India and around the globe, and another nation that raped the Algerians and killed them, and a third nation that nearly wiped out the native population of the lands they built their country upon using slaves and blatant racism, can never be right, and have no right to accuse even the nazis of being against morals or trying to conquer the world, when they themselves were in control of almost the entire world at the time. Do I have to mention the soviets? In short, a nation is raped and humiliated the moment it forgets and despises its own history and its own culture. and that is exactly what the allies did to Germany. If I ever saw a nation in utter chaos, where it should have been prospering and free, it means that a western nation bombed it into democracy.

Eh, you can argue, if Wilhelm II or Wilhelm III was better, but one thing should be undeniable: The Hohenzollerns were far better than everthing that happened in OTL between Wilhelm II's abdication and the end of the 2nd world war. Concerning the accusation of a "War criminal": If Germany would have won WW1, the Entente feared Middleeuropa, because it would weaken British trade. After the Russo-Japanese war, Britain didn't see Russia as danger anymore. So their focus shifted towards Germany. If Japan could beat Russia, Germany could do it as well. Even worse for them was the good relationship between Germany and the Ottoman Empire. So GB used propaganda, because they feared the German economy could become larger than theirs. Wilson was originally neutral to all countries, but the US was culturally closer to Britain and he couldn't keep up his neutrality, because otherwise America would loose the money, it lend to Britain.

In 1914, Wilhelm II the Superimperialist set out to bring the British Empire to its knees and rule the world. Of course, everybody knows this was the focus of his entire existence...his sole purpose in life. Evidence? The famous "September Program" as his crowning achievement in finally getting on with "bringing the British Empire to its knees" which Wilhelm II the Superimperialist suitably commented on and concluded with a speech on the 3rd September ending thus: *“This time we shall know how to make full use of victory...”* The crowning achievement of his entire existence and rule of course, as everybody knows, was to finally "bring the British Empire to its knees". Everybody knows Wilhelm II obsessed and fussed about the powerful British Empire from the minute he woke up every morning, until the time he fell asleep every night. Only... *...the speech...* ...was not by Wilhelm II, and the date was not 1914. "What actually occurred was that Britain and other countries became hopelessly indebted to the United States once again (edit: during World War 2) ... *“We have profited by our past mistakes,” announced Roosevelt in a speech delivered on September 3, 1942. “This time we shall know how to make full use of victory.” This time the U.S. Government would conquer its allies in a more enlightened manner, by demanding economic concessions of a legal and political nature instead of futilely seeking repayment of its wartime loans (of World War 1).* The new postwar strategy sought and secured foreign markets for U.S. exports, and new fields for American investment capital in Europe’s raw materials producing colonial areas. Despite Roosevelt’s assurances to the contrary, Britain was compelled, under the Lend-Lease agreements and the terms of the first great U.S. postwar loan to Britain, to relinquish Empire Preference and to open all its markets to U.S. competition, at a time when Britain desperately needed these markets as a means by which to fund its sterling debt. Most important of all, Britain was forced to unblock its sterling and foreign-exchange balances built up by its colonies and other Sterling Area countries during the wartime years. Instead of the Allied Powers as a whole bearing the costs of these wartime credits to British Empire countries, they would be borne by Britain itself. Equally important, they would not be used as “blocked” balances that could be used only to buy British or other Sterling Area exports, but would be freed to purchase exports from any nation. Under postwar conditions this meant that they would be used in large part to purchase U.S. exports." (page 115/116) "By relinquishing its right to block these balances, Britain gave up its option, while enabling the United States to make full use of its gold stock as the basis for postwar lending to purchased generalized (primarily U.S.) exports. *At a stroke, Britain’s economic power was broken. What Germany as foe had been unable to accomplish in two wars against Britain, the United States accomplished with ease as its ally."* (Page 117) "Furthermore, under the terms on which it joined the International Monetary Fund, Britain could not devalue the pound sterling so as to dissipate the foreign-exchange value of these balances. Its liability thus was maximized - and so was America’s gain from the pool of liquidity that these balances now represented." ("Super Imperialism: The Economic Strategy of American Empire." -- Michael Hudson, 2nd edition 2003) In case that seems a bit technical, here is the "nutshell version": Just like the bank takes your house if you don't pay up in the real world, the British Empire was run into the ground by the "best friends" USA, who stole the Empire's markets; hidden behind a whole lot of "technical jargon", thereby taking the means London had to pay its debts. A suitable micro level example would be the bank having an eye on your house, then making sure you get fired so you can't pay your debt. On the macro level the term is "debt trap diplomacy", and on the (privatized) propaganda level the means is "projection: accuse somebody else of being something which one is oneself", and that "being" has started waaaaaay earlier as a matter of own policy. A "debt trap" the Allies walked into after 1916, after they had spent all their own money, and squeezed as much out of their colonies as they could get away with, but refused to come to terms at the negotiating table: another factor usually associated with the Central Powers. After both World Wars, the crowds understandably cheered the end of the war... *Meanwhile as the crowds cheered, in the background, big daddy USA ate up the British Empire and turned it into the junior associate power.* Where are all the BBC documentaries informing the public about these postwar events?
@WarriorofIslam-fd1nr

Because you don’t get to beg twice and then not pay. Don’t blame the Americans for playing the game better than the British. No tiny island nation could maintain their fragile empire to begin with. So what are the BBC going to cry about? The Americans didn’t cut their own Atlantic cable and communication with Germany or cut off their trade with Germany with a blockade. The British Navy did that. So of course the British needed to pay for the trouble they caused. They should have stayed the fuck out of their betters ways. What you think you’re going to cut off trade, cut off communication, draw US shipping into U Boat waters, start a propaganda campaign and think no one noticed? Stupid silly little British islanders must have been fools if you thought no one knew what you were doing. So yeah, you paid. And you’ll keep paying until we say otherwise. You think you can just manipulate pawns into wars when you are nothing but a pawn. Pride comes before the fall. And for a tiny little island to think they could actually rule the sea, rule the world, what a joke to ever think that. To think you could just lure us into your machinations, what a joke to ever think that. So of course there will be no documentaries, because you started this game, and you lost. Any documentary will only be an admission at losing a game you started. And who want’s to admit they were made fools of by the people they tried to make fools of?

wilhelm's main fault was that he was pretty much a peacetime monarch during the biggest war of human history of that time. the german public of ww1 was very aware that he effectivly surrendered all the political power to the military during the war, and that reflected very negative on the german monarchy (germans back then had no real concept of a figurehead monarch, but expected firm leadership in special in a time of crisis). but wilhelm failed to fully lead and support the war effort, also that the crown prince also was militarily incompetent didn't help preserving the monarchy. and in the german public's eyes (of back in the day) a monarchy that doesn't properly lead is pointless.

A great defense for the poor Kaiser! He was born with a disfigurement of one of his arms. It caused his body to develop asymmetrically, which didn't look very good. In those days physical strength was of real importance and especially for a Kaiser to be the leader of an Army of most able men. As a child he went through surgery to cut off nerves to his well formed arm and shoulder for cosmetic reasons. His mother wrote in her diary that he went through the surgery bravely without showing any emotions. But that he cried a little afterwards. He was in his days said to wear a helmet with an eagle with a helmet with an eagle on it. This is not true, at least I cannot find any such helmet of his. He did wear a helmet with an eagle with a helmet with a CROSS on it. But that makes complete sense since there are two birdbrains in the stack already.

Read also: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_II#Religion and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Germany. Read: ‘German Empire Many of the traditional German Student Corps use varying forms of the black eagle as part of their coat of arms, such as the Corps Altsachsen in Dresden. The Reichsadler had already been introduced at the Proclamation of Versailles, although the first version had been only a provisional one. The design of the eagle was altered at least twice during the German Empire (1871-1918). It shows the imperial eagle, a comparatively realistic black eagle, with the heraldic crown of the German Empire. The eagle has a red beak, tongue and claws, with open wings and feathers. In contrast to its predecessor, the eagle of the German Confederation, it has only one head, looking to the right, symbolising that important parts of the old empire, Austria and Bohemia, were not part of this new empire. Its legal basis was an imperial rescript: To the Reich Chancellor Prince of Bismarck. Following your report of 27 June of this year I authorise: 1. that public authorities and public servants, appointed by the Emperor according to the requirements of the constitution and the laws of the German Empire, are to be called imperial; 2. that the black, one-headed, rightward-looking eagle with red beak, tongue and claws, without scepter and orb, on the breast shield the Prussian eagle, overlaid with the shield of the House of Hohenzollern, (i.e. with inescutcheon of pretence of Hohenzollern ("quarterly argent and sable")) over the same the crown in the form of the crown of Charlemagne, but with two crossing bows, may be brought into use; 3. that the Imperial standard [Script continues] - Kaiser Wilhelm, Rescript of August third, 1871, concerning the names of the public authorities and public servants of the German Empire, as well as the declaration of the Imperial coat of arms and the Imperial standard[5]’ - excerpt.

I remember first hearing this thesis from a book of a similar title, though the author advances the claim that the primary driver of war in Britain was financial interests, with Edward VII being beholden to such. An interesting digression the author makes is attributing the assassination of Franz Ferdinand to members of the Austrian government who used the Black Hand as a scapegoat for war, though I've been unable to find any other English sources that deal with the topic. Nonetheless this is an excellent video, as are most of the things you put out.

As a proud Berliner myself and a great admirer of German Culture, I couldn't agree more with you @Lavader. I know most of the people has a very negative image of Kaiser and Germany before WWII but I think Germany was a great place during 18th & 19th century, particularly between 1850 to 1910. During the time of Friedrich the great, Enlightenment movement has a huge impact on the Social, Economical, Cultural aspects of German culture, that helped people in Art, Music, Literature, Philosophy, Architecture, Science to be more creative, innovative and be the best in their respective fields. The work of that time can be considered as a second Renaissance. The best thing about that time was mutual respect for the creative people from other countries & ethnicity. A lot of modern practices in various fields were originated at that time and we should be greatful for that, atleast I am. As nobody is perfect, I am sure Wilhlem II has his flaws, still he promoted Worker Rights, Affordable Housing for Middle & Poor Berliners, promoted Industrial growth, one can see the Rathaus( Townhall) of Berlin's districts, most of them were build during his time, many survived WWII destruction, they are one of the best Architecture. Siemens, AEG, Various Auto BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Audi, Skoda, Lots of Coal & Steel works in NRW, Baden & Bavaria, The Railways, Insurance firms etc etc did very well. You can still see most of German cities & town till to this date has a very good Transport Intra City network, Trams U & S Bahn, Thanks to City Planner and vision of the Kaiser & his advisors. This may upset many people, but other countries were quite jeolous of the progress of German Empire at the turn of 20th century and kind of forced Germany to participate in WWI. Being a non German myself I still respect German culture and the people, "Gott mit uns" whicb translates to "God with us".

What I most appreciate about this series is the depth of research. You clearly care about this topic and it shows. I must admit I went into this video with a lot of scepticism. As many others I have heard a lot about the 'mad Keiser who caused war by reckless fleet building ect'. I have already been bit suspicious of the narrative as it seemed there were at least 2 to 3 versions of Wilhelm's childhood and his relation to Queen Victoria, though in the past I simply dismissed it as historical uncertainty. But you provided sources, which make the 'mad Keiser' narrative about as believable as about every single character decision in the last season of Game of Thrones. I must admit I was not aware about the fleet's purpose, but on closer examination it makes too much sense that Wilhelm would think nothing bad about it and see it as necessity. Healthy competition with Britain from his pov was nothing bad, if capitalistic ideas follow both nations will prosper from it in the long term. But British had reoriented their Empire from economic boon to liability in 1830 and 40. Which along with the rise of imperialists in the country politics perfectly explains why they would want to destroy the competition at any cost. Because they didn't want a rival as they country was in death spiral and the only thing keeping it from happening were reforms or absence of competition. They chose the second solution, which lead to war, debts to the USA and the long awaited fall from relevance to be supplanted by those who used the same strategy that gave Brits their empire to begin with. One might say that on their way to avoid the fall they inevitably caused it. Now British involvement in WW1 makes actual sense to me. Now things finally fall into place and contradictions are gone. It was stupid, short sighted decision in a country ruled by pride and paranoia.

When I finally got around to actually reading the Austro-Hungarian (AH) ultimatum to Serbia, I was surprised to see how mild and reasonable the demands actually are. Basically, the AH demands were that the Serbian government should: 1. turn over individuals identified by the AH investigation as co-conspirators in the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife; 2. remove people in the Serbian government agitating for conflict with AH from office; 3. shut down publications agitating for conflict against AH; and 4. route out and shut down organizations plotting assassinations of AH officials. There's nothing I can see in the ultimatum that I would describe as having a "brutal tenor" or as being a list of demands too onerous to be acceded to. To me, the demands seem quite measured and reasonable, especially considering that Franz Ferdinand was AH's future head of state.

Actually, no. The demands were _deliberately_ formulated and drafted by Austria-Hungary in such as manner so as to preclude _any_ possibility of Serbian acceptance. @@bolivar2153 Even if the Austro-Hungarian officials believed that the Serbian Government would reject the terms of the ultimatum, the fact remains that the ultimatum's demands are quite measured and reasonable. @@Marmocet No. THEY WERE DESIGNED TO BE REJECTED. THEY WERE DESIGNED TO PRECLUDE ANY POSSIBILITY OF ACCEPTANCE. What part of that do you consider to be measured or reasonable? In what way is an effective surrender of sovereignty "acceptable" to you? The Ultimatum was seen merely as the "formal" means by which to wage a war that had already been decided upon. It was never a case of "if" the Serbians would reject the ultimatum, it was simply a case of "when". The Austrian's wanted them to reject it. They wanted that reason for war. They designed the ultimatum in such a way as the Serbian's could not possibly accept it. It was designed to be neither measured nor reasonable. They got the response they wished and planned for.

Then when I went to college, Wilhelm was portrayed in a less antagonistic light, but still a negative light, claiming he didn't do enough, to prevent war, partly blaming it on his naivity. It's always good to hear history from another perspective, and from someone who comes from a different walk of life - as we all have our own intrinsic biases. World War 1 was an inevitable war that was completely unnecessary, while World War 2 was a necessary war that could have been avoided. There were so many factors and greedy interests in causing the first World War, that there was almost nothing the Kaiser or the other handful of peace minded individuals could do to stop it. Honestly, other than the assassination of the Archduke and the sinking of the Lusitania, I wasn't even taught much about the Great War. WW2 gets more of the spotlight, and retroactively makes Germany look like it was always evil. As I started studying about it on my own and watching videos on the Great War, it just comes off as a senseless tragedy. No one side was good or evil. Atrocities committed on all sides, millions of lives lost due to violence, disease, incompetent commanders, and starvation. And at the end of it all, it was the ones who begged the most for peace who paid the price, while the "heroes" of the conflict, for the sake of petty retribution, planted the seeds for the second war and the horrors that followed.

I would suggest reading John C.G. Röhl's gigantic 3-part Wilhelm biography instead of Christina Croft. I've only listened to a part of this video but the points of view taken are extremely charitable compared to the vulnerable, weak, indecisive, yet incredibly opinionated, vain, foolish and prejudiced man Röhl displays not through his own opinions but by extensively quoting Wilhelm's own statements, writings, and those of his government. They are damning to say the least, not in the sense that he's an irreconcilable warmonger or a proto-Adolf, but in the sense that his immaturity and narcissism are a tragedy for the entire Reich and that even his closest subordinates during his long reign repeatedly ask each other if the man is entirely sane because his opinions and moods appear to shift constantly. Röhl's Wilhelm - A Concise LIfe gives a taste of the full biography but does no true justice to the chaos present at the very top of the German government from his accession to the throne to his abdication that the thousands of pages of the full biography reveal.

@uther2713 Short answer: no. Long answer: WIlhelm is no prince of peace. It's hard to get a full measure of the man since he for example in statements and letters to members of his government and family (and occasionally in outbursts to complete strangers that end up shaming his diplomatic corps) can one day swear eternal enmity to England, its monarchy, its people, and all they stand for, and the next wax sentimental about the British navy and his relatives over there. During the crises preceding the first World War his chancellor, foreign minister and others occasionally despair as Wilhelm marches head held up into an international flashpoint and makes bellicose statements, but then at the last moment chickens out and backs down. I wish I'd remember who it was from his closest subordinates (maybe Bülow?) that stated point blank that he wished Wilhelm would for once stay a course he plots out. If you are interested in him, it's worth reading Röhl only to get a sense of what people around him are saying about him and how he rows back and forth between extreme positions even within the space of a day, a catasthropic trait for a leader. Röhl is also worth reading for the hilariously incompetent and drunken antics of the son of Bismarck, which certainly prove wrong the adage that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

For the British Empire, commencing roughly the year 1900, every "victory" was in fact a nail in the own coffin. The following essay will explain how first London, and then Washington DC used mainly divide and rule/conquer strategies at key watershed moments throughout history in order to effect world domination, mainly facilitated by a geographical advantage. Unlike conventional wisdom suggests, such policies were not only implemented in overseas territories and colonies, but were indeed also used against the continental European powers, within the limitations of the power balance at any given time in history. In order to first become and then later stay the world hegemon, distance coupled with a financial and technological edge, were converted into political means (policies) by London power players. Up to the early-20th century, these realities gave London that slight edge over their continental rivals which were already divided due to a variety of reasons. As time progressed and war ravaged Europe in the first half of the 20th century, technology advanced further, so that the geographical advantage once enjoyed by London, passed over to the USA and Washington DC's power players. After World War 2 the multipolar world up to the 19th century turned bipolar, then unipolar as the Cold War ended or the systems morphed. Historically, European conflicts between systems based on structurally similar dynasties, turned into a struggle between ideologically different systems. Rather than the previous limited wars up to the early-20th century, wars then became total. The different systems tended to strive to overpower, marginalize, integrate or destroy other conflicting systems if symbioses was not possible. The key to success here, and the novelty of the theory presented, was that the core means employed were strategies resembling divide and rule/conquer. The systems which had the geographical advantage, either allied with, beguiled, befriended or otherwise favored other systems if useful for own gain. What set these loose alliances of friendships or ententes apart from other systems which also united, was a lack of obligation to react in any specific way during times of crises or wars. The distinct advantage of geography being that those with such a competitive advantage would not have to fear an existencial threat to the own systems and could be more bold in international relations, or delaying actions in crises or wars until a favorable point on the timeline, based on the technological standpoint humanity had reached at the point in time. Such divide and rule strategies were in fact standing London policies, disguised by careful use of language in policies. Since the logic of balanced powers to avoid great wars was widely accepted within the framework of the Concert of Europe, no other capital city seemed to have noticed or objected. Rather than aiding relative peace, which persisted in most of Europe for around a century after 1815, London's policy standpoint as sole "balancer of powers", resulted in an ever greater risk of a total war of the systems. At the core of Europe, these older continental European systems grew in extent and power in the leadup to 1914, under constant stress in efforts to balance power due to the fact that land borders resulted in more exposure to danger from a neighboring system: placing continental powers in a situation of a relative geographical disadvantage while engaging in crises or wars. While London could always find a power to temporarily ally with on the continent, the reverse was not possible (on Britain), because the UK had achieved an early unification process. The "decider" would always be London. Continental powers therefore faced the geographically disadvantageous locations with regards to expansive aims. This was directly opposed to faraway systems which had the geographical advantage of distance from this core of the Old World. Few seemed to have noticed the potential for MAD as time passed. Due to her geographical advantage, and at London's sole discretion, the "balancer" London stood aloof. The technological standpoint at the time meant she was detached from all danger to the own heartland which was England. A role which was guarded by the Royal Navy. London was the "sole divider and sole decider of wars". That eventually lead to the unintentional end of European world rule and domination, including their own. It was a careful use of language which meant that most of the above did not need to be kept hidden, but the words used indeed reveal a standing policy of "divide et impera". In fact, most of it happened out in the open, in newspaper articles, treaties, conferences, political summits, etc. and for all current witnesses to observe and study because just like today, it is possible to drive multiple policies in parallel. Most observers simply did not recognize the events for what they were, or they noticed and considered the status quo as a meritocracy or a well-deserved own right, or they did not pay attention. Distinct systems with many similarities and many differences employing strategies as a way to achieve greater gain for the own system. The theory comes in two parts, that of 1) divide and rule, in which case the dividing power is actually in a position to exploit an imbalance in power, to impose a ruling on another side by ensuring the continued rift between opposing systems, and the more common 2) divide and gain, where the power intent on creating an advantage for its own system, has to suffice with splitting potential unity in the making apart, but lacks sufficient power to impose a ruling. Divide and rule/conquer is revealed by events. Unlike human beings, *events* don't lie, steal, or kill. *Unlike human beings, events which are proven to have happened, and are not disputed to have occured, do not deceive, manipulate, or "tweak" the own perceived "truths" in order to generate positive feelings in a flurry of "99% ancillary details", which then distorts vision...*

@@Sceptonic Yes, so true. Most people cannot distinguish between the concepts of "isolationism" and "anti interventionalism", and the advocates of "isolationism" proudly chest-thump their way from one war of intervention to the next. Mostly due to the vested interests of a few from their own countries/states/systems.

Ever since Napoleon Britain fought wars to maintain international trade supremacy. They "owned" the seas or certainly acted like it.

All this "Germany wasn't that bad, the Entente were the real villains" narrative is fucking stupid and here's why The Entente did not want war. Serbia was invaded because an unaffiliated organisation assassinated the Austrian Archduke. They accepted 90% of Austria's demands, and their main dispute was Austria wanting to occupy Serbia and essentially turn it into a puppet state for their investigation, occupation they most likely would've maintained until they can fake some evidence of Serbian involvement. Serbia, meanwhile, wanted the neutral Hague to investigate. Russia joined to defend Serbia from unjustified aggression, and France joined to honour their alliances. The French had long since given up on Alsace-Lorraine, a region Germany had illegally annexed and ethnically cleansed. Meanwhile, Britain joined to defend its ally Belgium from Germany. This being the same Germany that actively encouraged Austria-Hungary to invade Serbia, planned to depopulate and resettle chunks of Poland, committed genocides in Namibia and Tanganyika, caused a famine in Romania, chemically devastated France to such an extent that parts of the country are still unsafe to cross over 100 years later, enthusiastically supported the Ottomans while they were committing genocide against the Armenians and starving half of Lebanon, and a whole host of other atrocities. The only reason the German Empire didn't have the body count of its British counterpart is because one lasted for less than 50 years while the other survived for centuries, and considering the fact there's even a comparison at all with those time scales should disgust anyone with a conscience

I already knew Germany wasn't to blame thanks to Pax Tube's video "Why America should NOT have joined WW1" but watching this has taught me how much more tragic of a figure Kaiser Wilhelm II really was, and just like the video taught me: For France it was about revenge, for Britain it was about destroying a rival and for America is was simply for the banks to get a return on their questionable investment. The why things transpired fills me with much lament.

I think my country backed the wrong group personally. We blamed the wrong country for the Lusitania, the British well knew what they were doing when they loaded a mass amount of ammunition onto a passenger ship filled with Americans. I'd be interested to know your take on the Zimmerman telegram.

Well yes he intended good but he was still young and naive i saw a movie about how people in Germany wanted a better system so that they can feed their families, Emperor Wilhelm of course had a plan to solve this problem but an election betwen the Social democrats and him were at the door, and Bismarck warned him to delay that plan becouse if he instalt it now the Social democrats would take adventage of it for their own cause.

Well done ,im sorry but I have to admit that the name of the Admiral that supported the building of a German war Navy was not "Tripitz" but "Tirpitz". After him the sister ship of Battleship Bismarck would be named Tirpitz (naturally much later/NS time). None the less keep up the superb work!

He was a good Kaiser and should be portrayed less evil! Also I'm sure the reason of instability and WW2 were BECAUSE Germany got rid of him, they were not ready for a democracy and the vast majority still was sympathizing with Wilhelm/Monarchy
