Section 51 of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution says that the Federal Parliament may make laws for the "peace, order, and good government" of the Commonwealth. The Constitutions of all Australian States also have similar expressions. What is the meaning of this phrase? What has the High Court of Australia said are the implications of this expression?

This fellow is quoting a political opinion piece work of the foreigner Adrian VERMEULE who holds only ideas about Constitutional law as a general thought bubble. Like this fellow who is lecturing to Australian Constitutional undergraduates and postgraduates at University of Qld he hold NO Australian legal qualifications at all. Ask him about the Portuguese based entirely foreign concept of the disasterous concepts of Brazilian Constitutional Law, and he would no doubt be far more informed than he is on Australian Constitutional Law. The book he holds up as an "authority" on the phrase is not even an authoritative work on American Constitutional Law, let alone Australian Constitutional Law which is closer in the phrase ". . .peace, order and good government" to the British Common Law, which is distinct from the concept applied in the U.S. Constitution. He seems very nice indeed, but unlike a qualification in mathematics or engineering which may be equally applicable across jurisdictions the Australian Constitution is an entirely unique Constitution. Is he professing to share 'law' or "politics" or "opinion" here ? Because if he is professing to share Australian Constitutional Law he should use authoritative historical works which relate specifically to the Australian Constitution as it was drafted and understood by our Founding Fathers of the Australian Constitution. Typical University of Queensland. Their previous Constitutional Law "lecturer" didn't hold any single qualification in Australian Law either. These are progressives from totalitarian backgrounds who are sprouting the United Nations "One Government" concept of the World, which recognizes no Sovereign Australia.

How is the government allowed to call itself the Australian Government, and why isn't it not the Commonwealth Government of Australia, or the Commonwealth Government, or the Commonwealth of Australian Government? On their website and on documents its always the Australian Government, how can this be?

The Australia Act 1986. Keating said it was too difficult to change the Commonwealth Constitution, so they made their own. It's like watching two different football games at the same time. Jurisdiction is key. You need to be sure which game you're in.

Because Commonwealth Government and Australian Government mean the same thing and both are used. When you refer to the Victorian Government, you don't say the State of Victoria Government. You can either say the State Government, the Victorian Government or the Victorian State Government. They all mean the same thing and don't change depending on which one you use. The Commonwealth Government often uses the Australian government, because it's much clearer as to what it meant. As a lot of Australians (let alone people outside Australia) would not understand what is meant by Commonwealth Government

Your wrong! The federal states joined together, because the crown made a deal with a tribe in Australia. The states came together to hide theat deal. Federation was an act of desperation to hide that deal. Henry Parkes 'what, and remind them of what we robbed then'. He was referring to that deal the crown made by paramount force for the colonies. The treaty in 100% valid and runs by imperial force never to be challenged by any courts or governments as stated by the treaty agreement of the crown. There is a valid treaty that gives the monarch absolute monarchy power in Australia via that treaty. It's well hidden, and lawyers brush it aside, because they only persue Australian laws rather than the laws of that treaty as established by the crown and the chiefs of that tribe.

Utter rubbish, and transparently so. They couldn't even negotiate with any of the native tribes initially. You are confusing the New Zealand Settlement with Australia. Very different indeed.
