Im saying this respectfully bro, I think you need to expand what you watch. The characters you described are basically all shounen protagonists. I would say the overwhelming majority of action anime geared toward adults have intelligent badass and highly capable protagonists. Basically anything under the seinen genre would be something you’d enjoy. Berserk, ghost in the shell, cowboy bebop, Vinland saga, Hellsing ultimate. Etc

As far as the scene where he was referencing to the duck, I think that was comical relief. I didn't understand that too. At first when I watched it again in that scene I noticed that the restaurant poster had like a advertisement for a duck dish and I think that's what he was referencing 😂🤣
