The history: It tells the story of a peasant girl, Jagna, who is forced to marry a rich and much older farmer, Boryna, despite the fact that she is in love with his son, Antek. Over time, Jagna becomes the object of envy and hatred among the villagers, and he has to fight to preserve his independence. Set in the Polish countryside on the cusp of the 19th and 20th centuries, the story's dramatic twists involve the changing seasons, hard work in the fields, and traditional local festivals. The animation look awesome and the history look interesting too.

Jagienka z tego zwiastun jest bliższa oryginałowi niż finalna wersja i to jak wyglada to tutaj bardziej mi się podoba niż końcowy produkt choć i tak filmem byłam zafascynowana

Dokładnie też tak sądzę, że ta wizualnie Jagna bardziej wiarygodna i przynajmniej ma krótsze włosy od tamtej, a przecież po ślubie ścinano, a w finalnej wersji wgl jej nie ścięto co mnie strasznie raziło.. no i ten strój ludowy tutaj dużo lepszy. I wgl ta aktorka z tej wersji jakby inna od tej finalnej.

I read the series 40 years ago, then ordered it thru my library to reread a few years ago. It was shipped from Connecticut to Missouri on library loan. It was literally decinegrating along the edge of the pages as I read it. Informed the loaning library of this upon return, asking if I owed them damages when I sent it back and amazingly they said no charge, mailing it back to me saying I could have it since I appreciated it and they'd have to retire it. A beautiful human, this librarian who thought to re-home an old book cross country rather than destroy it. A gift in more ways than one.
