Simply relying on the emotions of the viewer instead of showing the logic of decision-making by a character consistent up to this point - this is suitable for Sofia after Arkham, but not suitable for the rational Penguin.

@@Batemanfilmzjqe In retrospect, even Tsai and the other lieutenants taking over is set up. The over arching reason for new criminal leadership is Oz's continual speech about being over looked. In the first meeting with Tsai, he says he was wondering when Oz would make his move. We know now it's because Tsai and the rest were thinking of doing the same. At the time, it looks like Tsai understands Oz more - the Falcones just look down on him, the Maronis think he is just an opportunist, Sofia knows he has ambition, but doesn't realize how much. At the Gold Summit, it is actually Tsai who reacts first when Oz gives his pitch to work together. Tsai gives a look to another lieutenant who returns it. And it is Tsai who is first looking at Zhao expectantly when Zhao is the last leader with an unopened beer. Then in E08, why did Tsai save Vic by punching him in the stomach? Tsai was watching the Irish gang leader's reaction, then broke the tension by punching Vic, with the message to know his place and stay alive. This is the scene that caught my attention. Why save Vic? Because Tsai wanted a messenger to Oz if Oz survived. And more than likely, that would be for his own plot. Of course Vic being at the edge of the group at the airport just gave away that it was a set-up.

Killing because of some abstract potential vulnerability in the future was very illogical for this character. To shock with an illogical twist was a weak move for such a great show. He wants his mom(family )to tell him that he did good and now, he can no longer get that. Oz appreciated all of Vic's contributions. Then Victor said that he sees Oz as family. That triggered jealousy in him because Victor got something which he had never gotten in his life: approval. He already relates to victor due to his disability. Funny thing about this episode is that, Victor hardly stuttered. He usually stutters when he is tensed. This guy taunted those mob bosses without stuttering. Ironically, it's penguin who stuttered more in this episode. The major stuttering episode Victor had was when he was trying to say the word family. The same word that led to his death.

I’m just gonna describe the series in one sentence : breathtaking . Oz is like Michael myers pure and simple evil . The most sad and dark moment is when his mother say to him : I hate you . The fact that your own mother hate you and wants to kill you that’s so hard . This is so far the most gripping and amazing series that’s I’ve seen . I demand a 2 season . 10/10

Colin was right. Penguin is indeed hated. 1) he refused to even confess to his mom about his brothers despite her knowing and still lying that he didn’t do anything, 2) he with the help of a politician looking to move up framed his crimes on her along with the exploding to send Sofia to Arkham, 3) poor Vic. I think a combo of Vic being the last bit of family for Penguin and the thought of Vic rising up against since he rallied the underlings to take out their bosses. Penguin beware. The Bat and The Cat are coming for you. We will probably find out later if Catwoman is in the sequel and maybe Sofia.

We were literally taken for a ride with this series. We got to see all the highs and lows of Penguin’s character. They made him seem so sympathetic until the very last episode, and expertly pulled the rug out from under everyone, to brutally remind us exactly who The Penguin is. Now we’re all excited to see The Batman knock him down a few pegs, and remind him of how vulnerable he still is.

I knew Victor was dying this episode because he is the heart of the operation, because unlike Oz, he really believes that you can be the people's hero even if you are part of the underworld, and Victor represented Oz's last ounce of morality, not just because Victor has seen him in his lowest but becuase Oz doesn't need to pretend anymore that he cares, but seeing him turning his hug into a chokehold was truly disturbing, because that's Oz, he reaches to you making believe that he cares just to take you out when you are getting on his way.

It seems like ever since Nolan Batman is forever stuck fighting the same 5 villains over and over. Joker, Two-Face, Ra’s Al Ghul, Falcone, and Maroni. However Matt Reeves is about to show everyone why the big 4 (Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman) are still important.

I knew Vic would not make it long in the game, but man that was heartbreaking, like why didn't you just leave when you had that chance 😭! Oz ain't worth a damn! What he did to his mom is messed up. It was the opposite of what she wanted. She wanted to die peacefully, but she is trapped in a vegetative state now. Great series happy to know the ending was very in-line with his character.

10/10. Absolute masterpiece. The Penguin really got elevated in this new universe and the build up is fantastic. Whether he is in Part 2 or even Part 3 I know Matt Reeves and that other woman will do it justice. I would like to see him take on even more Batman villains like Joker, Two-face, and Bane. Joaquin Felix plays a good Joker despite the atrocious 2nd movie so seeing him against Batman but with good writers would be cool. Seeing them implement all the villains into the franchise would be good.
