I'm particularly interested in creating a "Presence" demonstration similar to the one that starts at 47:37 in order to demonstrate the advantage of a single speaker setup over a two speaker setup. But I'm not exactly sure about what is going on in the video presentation. I suspect that to create a similar demonstration certain conditions should be met. Could someone please comment on the following: 1. I understand that the purpose of the demonstration is to illustrate the principle that coherent phase in speech is important. However a lay person is not likely to believe this point unless an undoctored speech recording is used. Would a comparison of alternative speaker set ups with undoctored sound be sufficient to convince a lay person of the advantages of one arrangement over another as far speech presence is concerned? 2. Would left and right speakers need to be separated by a certain minimum distance? 3. What does David mean by "a room like this"? Are there room shapes where left and right speakers would be better than a single speaker? 4. I recall from another presentation that it is preferable to not use sound reinforcement for speech but if it was necessary a single speaker located below the level of the presenters head is recommended (ie in the lectern). Is the height of this speaker important? How much less effective would it be to locate it say 1.5 metres above the presenters head?
