I kind of stumbled across your channel and this is the first upload I have watched. Apparently, in TX any dwelling with fewer than 400 sq ft (399 or fewer) is exempt from property taxes - that's just what the video said, but I had thought for a long time that a 20 x 20 dwelling could solve the homeless problem done right - minimalist type stuff, you know? THIS pond house seems perfect... you could have a garage, even, underneath and still have room for the swing or the picnic table and some outdoor square footage. So, yeah, putting this up on stilts, basically is an excellent idea. Thanks for sharing this with us.
@tylerbarrett66523 ай бұрын
So, yeah... you'd have to do like a 19.95 x 19.95 to get UNDER the 400 sq ft thing... but it could be done, right?
@CottageandCompany3 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the comment. Yes this type of structure could be very beneficial for areas where housing is in short supply. As you said, the lofted structure provides for ample space below, for things like a garage. Additionally, in flood prone areas the home is safe. So in short, YES this is a great option!

That place is amazing and well put together. I love all the neat things that were incorporated in the house. Definitely took them time to "collect" all of the items like the staircase and the sink and stained glass window.

Cute little cottage tree house. The floor plan is very well thought out and the use of design elements adds to the quirky character of the place. Adorable. Could so do some serious napping during a light rain storm.

As much as i love claw foot tubs, i think id ditch the tub & put in seating. If you spend any time at all inside, you get awfully tired of sitting on the bed. No room for projects, either. How disappointing that the woodstove isnt woodburning...Of course, im thinking of living there, not just using it for an AirB&B...
@stevecascaden63459 күн бұрын
Yeah ditch the bathtub and sink in that room. Change the bed to a Murphy bed and have at least a love seat that could sit where the tub is and be moved to watch TV. Yes I'm also thinking of living there or staying there more than just a night or two.

It's very neat, but I would not want to have to walk up those stairs in the snow. My children lived in a tiny house by a lake for several years. The lake flooded a couple of times and finally the owner had the house raised 3 feet on a concrete block foundation. It worked perfectly. My children all have their own homes, but they still look back fondly on their time in the tiny house.
@CottageandCompany3 ай бұрын
The stairs are protected from the snow so there would be no shoveling involved 🤗. Sounds like some fond memories. This lofted cabin design would work well in flood prone areas!

This appears to be a nice place for an outdoor person that doesn’t really need to entertain inside. The entertainment space is downstairs per their choice. The kitchen cabinets height is built for their height not everyone else. The sink is adorable if you truly understand the generation. Why shouldn’t they build something they want with their money.

That's a big kitchen with a tiny prep counter making it difficult to prepare something. It has a full size range/oven, shallow sink, too tall microwave to use, nook seating without a table or place to sit & eat. You would be forced to eat standing up. The window A/C unit looks like an afterthought. The dual hallways around the toilet/shower are an inefficient use of s.f. area. In the bedroom, where would you sit to use a laptop, write an email, other than in bed or the tub? If you managed to make a plate of food in the kitchen, how would you carry it down the spiral stair to the picnic table? Other than that, it's charming.

@@Hjw673lakefront camps in VT are often located on a slope and at least partially on stilts. They built plenty of old wood docks and piers, and even bridges back in the day, although many are now metal. Plus, wooden fence posts are still used in soggy ground.
