Holler from Germany. I have an r53 JCW..with basic mods and mostly suspension upgrades. Nothing beats the whine of an open filtered supercharger. Although not something to brag home about on our autobahns...but on our silky smooth B roads...she’s probably no less fun then cars of much higher caliber. Really enjoy your channel. Damn right, this is in winter before my 250bhp+LSD build. At the time this was the longer ratio box and yet it was still pulling through the gears quicker than most face-lift do with the shorter box. Hello Peter, Cracking vlog! I had an R53 Mini a few years ago - only a One D but I loved it - a hoot to drive. Still love the R53 and R56 Mins, but have no time or love for the bloated things they call Mini’s these days, even the Cooper S. So, I hope that these two drives have made you reconsider spending silly money on a new car? Get Ruby Roadster tuned and up-specced and keep it as a fast road car. The smile on your face says it all. Keep it Mini! Or swap her for a mint Cooper S Checkmate and do some subtle mods to that? Or find a GP1 or 2.... Food for some deep thought, Peter! Minis are more fun per mile than a lot of so called sports cars. And you could join the B Road Hunting Club as well..! I’m sure there will be a good few other Peddlers that think the same as I do. Just found this video, really enjoyed it, great job...the R53 what a great car....had mine since 05 and has 181k and it's still great fun to drive..I love driving the B roads in the UK, not as many roads like that here in the states.

GP will rev to 7180 by the way not 7000 and the charger doesn't spool quicker its fixed, a smaller pulley just increases the velocity of the rotors compared to engine rpm. Ideal B road setup on 16's (will need some special fitment to clear the brakes), leave the stock works springs on and chuck in some B6 shocks, assure you you'll be able to hit higher speeds without feeling like you're gonna bounce of the road 😍. Good video and chat though, nice one

The GP sounds so good compared to the pre facelift S. Mostly the janspeed manifold I think right? Since they run the same non res JCW exhaust. (of course facelift/GP/JCW's pop more anyway)

Gotta love a modified Mini. I've got a R56 and a Classic Mini and both are different but great fun to drive. Only problem is the condition of the roads which are abysmal and can destroy a car hitting one of these craters. Worst roads in Europe are in the UK

The GP1 came with 218bhp but this one has a little more than then. Ed talks about it in the film. The other car is a stock engine Cooper S which came with 163bhp 👍

No, it has ever soo slightly shorter and stiffer shocks. Springs sit roughly - 10mm lower and are slightly stiffer also
