Dear all, This response is to a comment that was up briefly, and I wanted to take a moment to answer. I'm so glad to hear your feedback. It took a lot of courage for you to write this comment, and I hope to offer some perspective which might help. Only dance for yourself. Period. It may sound selfish, but that's what everyone at the professional level does anyway, regardless of what they might say to the contrary. The thrill of moving your body in dance is yours entirely, and the whims of a theatre audience must never be the focus of your desire. Focus on what you do, and not on what others think. I can only speak for myself: I am post-professional, and I keep dancing for my own enjoyment, self-expression, and good health. All too many dancers leave the profession feeling exhausted, disillusioned, and completely disinterested in doing another battement tendu. It needn't be that way either. I agree that professional ballet can be extremely body-specific. But consider this: how many people enjoy studying music, and will never perform a concerto with the New York Phil, or get a contract to play for that orchestra? Almost all music students. And that's okay, as long as they enjoy the experience of making music, and keeping the art form in their life. We could say the same for every sport out there: do it for yourself. Having personal worth in ballet is never defined by dancing in a professional company. It is always about your enjoyment of the art form, and experiencing the sweat, hard work, music, and the physical, emotional, and psychological rewards that come with that. It is a challenge you set for yourself. Please keep dancing 😊 All best, Josefina

Maria Khoreva has a really good ballet body. So much hyper extension and she has beautiful arches.

I enjoy ballet as a hobby. And this is the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. And my fav ballerina for now is Maria Khoreva. Its because she is so young and feels like a peer to me. And I see her as an inspirational person for me.

Hi! Thank you for the video! I don’t have hyperextended knees so is there tips to help me achieve hyperextended knees?
@josefinamoldovan2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment. You can work on the flexibility of your muscles surrounding your knee by stretching your hamstrings, quads, and calf muscles, because those are the muscles around your knee joint. Happy dancing!🤗

Idk if I have a ideal body for ballet. But doing ballet surely have taught me how to be fit. It has increased my confidence, my posture is better than ever, I can carry myself with elegance, I am flexible than ever and I absolutely love what my body could do. And learned how to appreciate ballet and classical music more. It gives me comfort purpose and a state of mind where I feel at peace yet dynamically active.

i have every single physical attribute except hyperextended knees and high arches… my feet are good and very strong but not necessarily arched in that part of the bone, and my legs are very long but they are bowed… so the opposite of hyperextended. do i still have a chance of making it if i work really hard?
@josefinamoldovan2 жыл бұрын
Yes, consistent work is the main factor where ballet is concerned. There are professional dancers who do not have a high instep or hyperextended knees, for instance, and they enjoy careers in dance. I would always encourage you to continue your training, focus on both your work and the qualities you have. 🧡

I think about harmony and not about perfection. The excellent is the enemy of the good ( Voltaire)

The correct citation is: « le mieux est le mortel ennemi du bien » Montesquieu, Pensées. The perfect ballet body is harmony.

I find Lopatkina and Zakharova, because of their long limbs, at times look a bit „clumsy“. I prefer Osipova‘s „athletic“ body.

@@nicholessmuse2447 you will know what is best for your life and your personal circumstances better than anybody else. I do like to incorporate logic as well as instinct for big decisions in life, but that's just me. On a scale of 1 to 10, if I rate the potential success of a choice as being 7/10 or higher, I usually decide to go ahead with that choice. Hope that helps!
