Love your channel Max. I am an early adopter of this amp, it was released in Dec and I got it then. It's exactly like you say, very good. I don't think it's too expensive, you get a lot for the $$$. I used to practice using Spark-40 before, but now I'm using the Mighty Space. One thing that I hope they will do tho, is develop a community for sharing tons like Positive Grid does. Hopefully you can forward them this feedback.

IMHO the ultimate coffee shop gig amp is the Roland CUBE Street EX 2X8" 50W battery powered combo amp. It's an amp and PA all in 1 and gives you 4 channels and 2 sides, with a guitar and mic input in each of the 2 sides. It works great and has been around for awhile. This newest version raises the power to 50w. You almost have to have a PA of some kind, and this amp has both the guitar amp w/effects and the PA all in 1 unit!! The battery lasts longer than you will. LOLOL 8) JMHO --gary

How do you think that the user interface and quality of modeling stacks up to the Positive Grid Spark line of amplifiers? It obviously has a more giggable setup due to the type of output jacks but it would be interesting to see a head to head with the Spark seeing that they are very similarly designed.
@DJCJ999

… all these modellers have a ridiculous amount of digital processing options and I find cycling through them dull asf… I liked the line 6 modellers that had presets based off songs so you had a familiar base tone… these devices have you tone deaf after a while… you are best making your own presets from scratch which can be a ball ache.

@@DJCJ999 yeah I agree with you on that. My lead player had a SpiderValve half stack and it was pretty legit. It didn’t hurt that the amp section was true tube and then it added the FX on top of it. The Helix is decent but is dated compared to much of the pack now. I still prefer something that is a combo versus having to purchase an FRFR powered monitor/cab.

Pretty cool little amp. I just got a Positive Grid Spark 40 a few months ago and I have to say I am loving it. Still... there are some features that this has which I wish the Spark had like - an included foot switch, a speaker out jack and the ability to re-arrange your pedal chain - _(also the ability to easily remove the carrying strap but, that's more of a trivial nitpick)._ I wanted to ask, in terms of sound, how would you rate it against the Spark? I love the room-filling type of sound I get from the Spark and was wondering if this has that as well. Also, does this double as a bass amp like the Spark? Can you upload custom patches to the app? Can you access KZbin and other streaming services with it?. Thanks, man. P.S. Any news on getting the Metaltronix fixed?

I have the RegularSpark AMP, but cons on it are only 4 pre-sets you can save. I agree with you on what it lacks, but what, the cloud library, you can download other users presets! Supposedly you can access and see 10,000 presets that other users have made in the cloud library. They both have their pros and cons. If you can only have one, which would you keep? Thank you.
@SetFire2TheNightSky

@@1peanut I have heard some good things about the Spark Control pedal. The only thing is that to me, it's a bit overpriced ($109 USD). I mean, it's essentially and on/off, start/stop switch. Supposedly, there are more functions that are going to be added to it but, for now, I'm good without it. Maybe in the future when it goes on sale again I'll consider getting it.
@SetFire2TheNightSky
@SetFire2TheNightSky Жыл бұрын
@@AngelMartinez-qs3cf Yes, the "only 4 presets" limitation is a bit of a con and to me the Cloud library, as impressive as it is, is not something I use all too much. Once in a while I will look up a patch but, most of the time, I like making my own. Seeing as I own a Spark already, I will keep it. I really do like it but, as I said, there are some missing features that limit it's features. Still, it does have some great features and for almost half the price? You can't go wrong with the Positive Grid Spark.
@SetFire2TheNightSky

@@user-mj4ye7cw8n I have the Spark 40. As far as what some people are saying regarding the heavy bass, I think a lot of that is an exaggeration. These people make it seem like the amp is overly muffled and low which is just untrue. Yes, it does have a bit of a bass presence but, that's what the built in EQ knobs are for. You can roll off all the bass and kick up the mids and highs if it's too much. Plus, you can also further sculpt the tone using the built in EQ/effects pedals. I personally like a little bit of bass in my guitar sound. Especially in a small amp like this, otherwise; due to it's size, it could sound shrill and unpleasantly high in tone. Plus, those people also forget that the amp HAS to have a bit of bass since it also doubles as a bass amp. A bass amp that has no bass is no good, even if it is just a practice bass amp. Last, for the difference in price, I would go with the Spark 40 if I were you. The Spark Mini has only 10 watts and that might be enough for you but, for a few extra dollars, you can get 30 more watts of power, just in case you ever need them. You might not use them often but - you never know. In the world of amplifiers, it's better to be over-powered instead of under-powered. I'm primarily a bass player but, I am starting to play guitar and was looking into a small but, decently powered practice guitar amp. I looked at the PG Spark, the Boss Katana 50 MK II, the Line 6 Catlyst 60 and the Blackstar ID Core 40. When I weighed all the amps together, the Spark just had the most features I wanted. Plus, I can also use it as a practice bass amp too. That and the price really sold me. Plus, it's small, light and it really does sound louder than it looks. Add the fact that PG promises to add even more features over time via the Spark app and to me, it was a no brainer. Hope this helps in your choosing of an amp.

As far as portable mini/battery amps are concerned, the original Roland micro cube set the standard. Vox improved on this by adding a mic input for busking and practicing your singing. Both had an aux input for adding a drum machine or backing tracks. No one has yet improved on this model. The amp manufacturers really need to stop trying to re-imventing the wheel and stick to this formula. Adding infinite tweakability via "apps" takes away from actual music creativity.

But... if it is a App-based amp (using a phone for parameter control) then it's usability will ONLY last as long as the phone or app itself.. which means within just a few years it might become useless, there is no guarantee.. because phones go out of style within ~2-3 years and OLD APPS DON'T RUN ANYMORE.. no company will continue to provide an app forever. Even Fender had to discontinue its original Mustang.V2 Amp App which ran on computers after about ten years, so those amps can no longer be controlled other than the very basic EQ, etc, knobs on the top. Not even the current bluetooth type will be around forever because old bluetooth devices no longer can connect to today's bluetooth devices, a problem of obsolescence which will repeat in the future. So, near $500 for this amp which will only work for several years before it can no longer be controlled? Unless the amp has a midi port which allows complete control via MIDI CC, it will become a doorstop in a very short time. ..by the way.. how about do a review of the newest JOYO guitar amp which is coffee-shop sized and battery powered (but, it is mono not stereo).

Sure there are better options in terms of sound, but that's beside the point. Are there any other amps that are battery operated with a footswitch and looper, with Nux-level modeling, controlled from the app, and power output? In terms of what this amp is meant to do - to be a all in one ultimate portable practice machine (did I mention LOOPER?) - it has a pretty unique combination of features! Can you quickly work out a solo to a riff with a Katana? Don't underappreciate the built-in looper! I have my perfect sound and recording setup with studio monitors and software amp sim. It's not something I can grab and go to a friend to jam, or take to the kitchen or to the forest, or throw into a suitcase and take on a business trip...
