If I'm not mistaken, there was a Police jump out boys bodycam footage that Donut Operator covered that had the same malfunction on 2 different officers guns during the same 45s firefight. Both officers loaded their (what looks to me) .300blk spears with the same magazines, and both had awful double feeds that took their rifles out of the fight.

I was having the same issue until I threw in my SOLGW BCG. It stopped. I still don’t trust the mags so I switched to my lancer mags. No issues, but I probably ran 500 rounds of 110 vmax and then 400 rounds of 220 gr sako trg without any double feeds in the pmags. Now I’ve purchased 20 300 blk specific pmags for my Spear and Aero builds.

@@brandon263 bullpups have come a long way since the Tavors came out. You can get 4-6 extra inches of barrel length and still be a compact size. Imagine giving your .300blk 1800-2000 fps at 170 grain and the overall size is under 30 inches. You'd have a mid-ranged, high velocity, large caliber, gun that could fit in tiny areas. The idea is practical and the engineering is catching up.

@ I bought the 12” Virtus SD handguard. There was zero fitment issues putting it on. I will say that the Arisaka Zero retention clamp is a necessary add on if you’re going to add lights and lasers. You will lose the ability to use the two screws that are on the side of the spear handguard so the clamp is basically to replace those screws and keep everything tight. I don’t have any videos but maybe I will make a video of my setup for people to see.

I have a .300 blackout AR with a 16 inch barrel for mainly hunting but also plinking as well. Ammo price hasn’t been that much of an issue for me since I shoot AAC which is like 65 cents a round. Not much more expensive than 5.56 and much cheaper than most hunting rounds. Effective range is limited, but not an issue for hunting in my area. Has had great performance on whitetail.

I love this video! You hit all the highpoints, and the shortcomings as well, of the 300blk. I run twin (same oal, same furniture, same optics, same lights, same LADs) suppressed Ar style rifles. Yes, the handguard covers almost all of the suppressor 🌮. One in 300blk for inside the house loaded with subs the second is 556 carried in the trunk with my get home bag. They each have their own purpose but operate and feel exactly the same

I've run some "Tucked" suppressor builds, all were ones I put together myself. Buy some heat tape, they even have some I've found myself using on Amazon called Tesa heat tape that has a textured surface. It is amazing. I even run it now over the can itself when exposed. Does great in dampening the heat mirage and makes it able to be taken off with my non gloved hand rather than waiting when it's hot. It's also very thin and does not add to the already bulkiness of the widened handguard.

My custom Spear LT has a ~12.4 ish barrel with a P&W sig suppressor. There is about 1 inch of suppressor sticking out of the rail and wouldn’t you know that is enough to burn a one inch long scar into your leg when you wear shorts for a class in 93 degree weather. The rail stiffener is a must with these handguards. Not sure I would trust it in a high impact environment but it does well at the range.

I put my 5.5" Rattler upper on a Radian A-DAC lower just in case, because my Army experience taught me that double feeds happen in less than ideal situations. This lower provides the fastest method to clearing a double feed considering you can drop the mag and lock the bolt open while holding the mag release. I found I would occasionally pop primers when running Fiochi 150gr suppressed with a Q Trash Panda and this would obviously create a double feed. After 2k rounds I found I only had issues with this ammo. However, I have moved over the 6.75" Rattler LT because I broke the Recoil Assembly right at the firing pin latch. I purchased another recoil assembly to replace the broken one, but I will leave it as a collectors item considering Sig is unlikely to support discontinued product lines.

As far as the ambi controls go, I think the ability to lock the bolt open with your trigger finger is a lot more interesting then the ability to drop the bolt with the same finger. Being ambi, that lever can do both and I think that was more the reasoning behind it than giving lefties a bolt release they never needed to begin with.

A 5.5 inch barrel with a 1/5 twist rate is all you need to maximize the 300 Blackout round running it as a PDW. On 1/7 twist rate barrels, 8 inches is probably the best choice to help with velocity, but the slower twist rate is mainly to run all types of ammo that may break apart with the faster 1/5 twist rate.
