I run a ADM IC Mod 2 and it weights about 8 lbs. in the army I run a 9lbs rifle. 9lbs isn’t heavy. I have deployed with it and ran all night. Shooting from the kneeling isn’t hard to do if you know how to do it. We don’t run any lpvos anymore just not as tough as we need them to be. Back up irons on everything. Good stuff just gotta go with what you got.

@TridentConceptsАй бұрын
@@whatsmolly5741 In my experience the ACOG is darn tough. The problem is their variable powered line leaves much to be desired. To be fair, they are asking a hell of a lot of these new optics. You will see more and more demand from manufacturers now that we've cracked the code in some areas. Back to the ACOG, my biggest problem with it was close range immediate threats. There are better options and that was why they started looking. Hope that helps.

POF Rogue: 5.9 lbs, 16 inch barrel, 1.5 MOA, 3x20 Scope, with Holosun 507c gr at 45 degrees, and, of course, .308. It doesn't make a bit of difference what everyone else is doing. .308 is available when "everyone else" is buying up the 5.56. Been through two ammo shortages. It takes 3-5 hits with 5.56 to do what .308 will do, so you have to buy at least 3x as much ammo, and carry 3x as many mags. Mine has the Dictator adjustable gas block. That means it shoots anything, suppressed or loud. Stainless barrel. So, excellent for CQB, 300 and in, out to about 700 yards with that scope. Your 5.56 is good for small women or men, who can't handle even the minimal recoil of a semiauto .308. Short barreled AR's are not as good in the damage they do as a 10 mm pistol with good ammo. So why go to all this trouble and expense to be outgunned by a pistol?
@TridentConceptsАй бұрын
Cool story bro... Your reality is hardly national. I watched the shelves empty daily of all brands and calibers. the entire region went through the same issues. The truth was after the initial purge the only ammo coming in the doors was the most popular; 9mm & 5.56mm. I spoke with manufactures regularly during the whole mess and each one them said the same thing, they wouldn't even consider tooling up other calibers until demand was meet. I've had only 2 shooters come through our Advanced Rifle course; which is out to 300m normally and further depending on the class. That is over a dozen years, not because it's not popular but because it's heavier than the other rifles. the abuse to properly train is well documented. In these classes you are firing 1k rounds where only 40% are fired from prone where weight is less of an issue. The remaining 60% is kneeling or freestyle. Guys could not keep up with other students when it came to hitting targets. Even the less skilled riflemen did better because they could get on target quicker and manage recoil better. Weight is directly proportionate to performance. That rifle with a 20 round magazine will be spicy. Plus, no one I know who's fired shots in anger with rifles relies on a single shot. It's multiple shots regardless of the caliber. Even my long gunners are hitting with multiple rounds because all bets are off in combat and their responsibility to the mission is the priority. If you want to argue about performance on paper, that's great. Theory sounds cool until it's put into practice.

I have a build very similar to this. Colt 6920 that I swapped the barrel for a P&W 13.9 Criterion Core. I have a relatively lightweight Steiner 1-4 and a Geissele 13” MK16 rail. WITH a sling it’s 9.5 pounds. The weight of that DD rail offsets the weight of my barrel a bit. I think it’s pretty hard to get a LPVO equipped 16” rifle under 9lbs
@TridentConcepts2 ай бұрын
Umm, I did it in this video😎 And I did it with a 1x8. That's still a nice setup thought and negative on the sling at weigh-in. Since the sling is mostly dropped over the body it had less effect. Hope that helps.

I would change to the new primary arms plx scope mount with a foward mounted red dot at 12 o'clock, almost no extra weight. I went with a holosun 507c x2. This way if both optic's batteries go down you still can use both primary and secondary.

Running a BUIS at 12:00 sucks. The mechanical offset is a pain to deal with and while to be used in an in-extremis setting the offset is a better option. I like the PLx-c in the Griffen mil flavor. I like it better than the NX8. Especially where field of view is concerned. I'm a 0311/8541 by trade. Running black reticles doesn't bother me. And the Plx-c at 1X is descent. But it's not as fast as the NX8 at 1X. Both have shit eyebox's at 8X. But that's the trade off. Also I bet the POI change is more since the barrel isn’t as rigid. Can you test that too?
@TridentConcepts2 ай бұрын
It sounds like the question centers around longevity. The best way I can answer that is I use the first grouping as the baseline. When the groups expand beyond 20% of that group my barrel is shot out. Around 10% is see groups opening up, but still well within the 4MOA requirement. While I want a tighter group of course, but it is well within acceptability. Barrel life has a lot of variables, shooting suppressed is just one of them. My service life for most barrels in this class is around 15-20k, but I'm shooting a lot more than the average Joe so chances are you would not see a depreciable difference. And what I mean by that is by the time you start to see anything, you would probably have already moved on to the next new hotness.
@mccartneyk072 ай бұрын
@@TridentConceptssorry, no I meant accuracy. Pencil barrels are said to lose accuracy when they get hot more than a beefier profile.
