This video was filmed and published before the M1 iPad Pro was announced. I have not tested this hub on the new iPad. Due to the change from USB C to Thunderboldt, there may be compatibility issues.

The issue is that…it doesn’t fit. The new increased thickness of the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9” prohibits the hub from making a solid connection. It’s a shame because it was a great hub. I am using the VAVA hub now. It has everything I need, including gigabit Ethernet, but for headphones you’ll have to use a USB-C port or AirPods from the iPad…

I use Hyperdrive. Essentially does the same. However the USB-C port can be used for charging AND data transfer. (HyperDrive iPad Pro USB C Hub adapter 6-in-1 Dongle). It’s about $70.

It looks great, but perfect would be having a second USB-C/Thunderbolt port for data. It also appears to mount flush with the case all the way to the back of the iPad meaning no third-party iPad cases. Anker could have raised the back edge so that a variety of third-party iPad cases would not get in the way. .... Swing and a miss.

OMG..... do I NOT have an ANKER myself....in my MacBook Pro, 4 usb-c ports are not enough, and that is where the ANKER comes to the rescue! Mine attaches via USB-C 6 inch, then gets me 2 usb's 1 C-Port, a micro SD and SD as well as a RJ45....the only thing missing would be the headphone plug....but got a Dongle for that too, but that is where bluetooth helps, sometimes. However the headphones I use have a special circuit that GIVES a killer punch to the music when using a cable!! I did look at the one you love... mine's kinda more flexible!

My wife bought me an 11 inch iPad Pro with 128 GB of RAM along with a keyboard that clips onto the edge of the iPad and connects via Bluetooth. She bought me a hub looks just like that without the name on it and I have HDMI on top, USB A, micro SD and SD, USB data port, and USB Power port, all five on the side and 3.5 mm audio on the bottom. I still plug my keyboard into the USB C data and it charges it.

Works with all USB-C iPad models running iPadOS 14 or later. Not compatible with iPads that have a Lightning port.

With the Anker USB-C hub, there is a version that has the USB-C port on the hub being for data and power pd. It’s $10 more though.

I have the KANEX version of this. It also has one USB C port that is for power. I also have the magic keyboard which also has a power port. I found that if I power the iPad Air Gen 4 through the keyboard, I can connect my Samsung T7 SSD drive to the USB C on the hub and everything works fine.. you might want to test that out.

I just subscribed. I found the Anker HUB interesting. Please elaborate on whether you can attach it with an iPad case. I realize there are different types of case protection. I am curious to find out which cases work best with the Anker HUB. Are there cord extensions that would help remedy problems with thicker military grade cases?

I don't think you can use this with many cases. I use it with the smart keyboard folio but if there is any sort of piece that comes on the side of the ipad, this won't connect.

If you have the new iPad Mini, there MAY be some compatibility issues. I know there were issues with the 2021 M1 iPad Pro but it could have been more of an M1 chip thing.

This is perfect also for any musician making music on the go, I have a Midi Keyboard (Arturia Minilab II) that is powered and works over it's USB port and since I need to listen on speakers or headphones without any horribly annoying Bluetooth latency I need to be plugged in via an audio jack, and as a added bonus with this dock I will be able to also have the possibility to connect storage devices that may have audio files and when I'm home I can connect work with a bigger screen. Thanks, have to order this too.

Anker makes great products. Have you tried this hub with a case? Or do you have to use it without one?. Also if it doesn't connect with a case, you can always use an extension cable to keep it away from the iPad. You aren't likely going to use the hub in a portable situation anyway. I have several Anker accessories and they all work great. My favorite is a battery pack that can charge 3 devices at the same time. I use it for my camera too. I keep the battery pack in my backpack and plug my camera with a 10 foot cable. My camera runs for a few days like that. I also use it to charge my iPad Pro if I am on the go. I bought it 4 years ago and it works like the first day. It was Ankers most powerful battery pack at the time. When I bought my 2020 iPad Pro Anker didn't have a hub like the one in this video so I bought a 6 in 1 hub made by Baseus, that still works after more than a year, but if I needed another I would go with Anker. Sorry for such a long comment. Thanks for the video.

Didn't know that Anker had cloned the Hyperdrive! It is a pretty cool device and works pretty well. You don't mention, and may not have noticed yourself, that the SD card support is limited to UHS-I. UHS-II is not supported so you still a dongle if you use them (or transfer wirelessly).

Do you test the data transfer speed rate? It is only apple SD card reader can keep the same transfer speed as SD card labeled, i tested.

I didn't test the speeds in any real way but I can tell that it is a bit slower than the official Apple SD card reader.

Great vid. I just returned a Hyperdrive hub similar to the Anker on your vid. Does your Anker hub connect ok with the Apple Magic keyboard please? The Hyperdrive hub would separate the back of my magic keyboard and disconnect power and connection to it, main reason why i returned it.

It doesnt. It works with Magic Keyboard tho. Be aware somethings wrong with headphone Jack, also its draining alot of battery just being plugged in. Hope this helps

I think Airdrop is a pretty good solution to move your files. You could also increase your iCloud storage and sync your files automatically. Then you can connect the t7 directly via usb-c. You could probably get away without an extra hub but if you plan on connecting more than one thing at a time, this one could be handy to have around.
