This was an awesome project to work on with Schmaniol and dob5on1an! It was super fun to make and some of the stuff we found was just mindblowing, especially considering the map has been out for 2 years! When we first saw the cut from 12-13, we knew it was an insane run! I hope everyone else enjoyed it too! Now we just wait for someone to get the reactor cut on a real run! Oh, and myself finally beating the map!

I enjoyed every second working with Schmaniol and Nebula on a map like deep dip, I really couldn't thank them enough for letting me join in on this. This run really goes to show how intriguing a map like this can be with all the hidden skips being usable as for there being no limitations from checkpoints. I will never forget the moment I found I could get launched up from floor 12 to floor 13 then letting Schmaniol optimize it by a lot! Hopefully we will get back together and crush Deep Dip 3 when it comes out!

Likely pretty old, TAS runs can take a while to make and a lot of the strats might be new (like the reactor jump) Also, while they're usually extremely optimized, there's technically no guarantee that you can't drive it faster even without new strats, especially in a segmented run

It's a segmented run. They run segments and then put them together into one run. Where there is a cut, they stop one segment and begin the next.

Yeah, it's segmented. Basically it means that they drove each part separately, then put them together to get the run. It's intentional.

It's a segmented run. That is, the run is a series of clips, each driven by a human, spliced together. It gives a "theoretically optimal run" similar to a TAS, with the difference being that every trick you see was done by a human at some point. The small cuts are just the points at which one clip ends and the next begins. They're a little jarring because there isn't really a way to get the footage to line up perfectly.

I feel like future versions of Deep Dip need to have a few checkpoins per floor so these multi-floor skips aren't possible. Don't know much about mapping but is that even possible? To have a checkpoint that you must get but not allow respawn from it? I mean some tricks and skips are nice in Deep Dip, but flying up like 5 floors is just cheap imo, and if something like that would happen on DD3 on the first successful finish, it would ruin entire map and experience of the event, IMO (for players and for stream viewers).

DD2 specifically didn't have reactors for this very reason.

The thing is that there's about a 0% chance anyone is realistically going for something like this in their first completion. It'd legitimately be way easier to just drive the map normally than to throw yourself at a trick like this, not mess it up once you get it, and still drive the rest of the map without falling, not to mention the fact that this was only discovered 2 years after the map released. I don't know how many tries this took, but I'm guessing this was only really feasible because of the fact that its a segmented run Also, multiple checkpoints per floor would make basically any shortcut impossible, not just floor skips

@@onlysmiles4949 The reactor cut is genuinely so difficult to get. When I was trying it for the run, it was super hard to get the reactor, and then to get any sort of adequate flight was even worse. It is possible to fly out of the tower and back in to floor 9 or so, but it's so so difficult.
