Ex-Dx2 player here (dropped it a bit before the first 7DS collab due to a mix of fatigue with the game and wanting to reclaim my time from gacha playing (I also played Langrisser around the time)). Initially liked it because holy crap they adapted Press Turn into a mobile game, and the Aura Gate mode is kinda neat (I was insane enough to max every element for AG2). Tokyo Abyss is a neat mode, though not one I sank much into. Non-SMT players reading this, um go play Devil Survivor.

I don't know what Limbus Company or this gacha game is, but always happy to see new SMT content. My recommendation for a starting point in the series isn't one of the strict "main" entries, but Strange Journey if you can somehow get your hands on it. That's where I started!

Limbus company is the newest entery in the project moon universe a project moon has a small dedicated cult like fan base smt dx2 liberation front is a really fun smt gacha game made by sega and it has tons of crossovers and the mechanics and battle system is fun and a great way to get into megaten in my opinion

The funniest part is that it's treated as a side mode to Alter World, the absolute worst solo content imaginable (at least in terms of gameplay). Seriously, even if your team is good enough to render losing on auto battle mathemathically impossible the fights will still take *at least* 30 minutes thanks to that stupid barrier system. As for the main story, I think it picks up at Season 2, which is when some of my favourite allignment leaders appear. In fact, they *were* my favourites before Vengeance.

I'm so glad someone is doing the kind of video that I've been thinking of making for *years*. Imo it doesn't apply exclusively to Tokyo Abyss - I really liked what Aura Gate 2's story was trying to do when not concerned with just grinding Magnetite, but Tokyo Abyss is absolutely peak as a gamemode and I kinda love it. It's an SMT roguelike with a hint of Mystery Dungeon, I think that's fascinating. Like seriously it's goddamn trapped. Tokyo Abyss needs to be basically its own game, but it's also tied to Dx2's system and sets so it kinda can't... Dx2 has a lot of cool ideas but the gacha ruined an otherwise decent game :[ Like I've been playing since near release at this point and it's so easy to see all the places where power creep decimated the system, especially when the starting metagame was pretty well-rounded and didn't rely on gacha demons very hard. The watered-down press system is a bit annoying to me but I got used to it. The challenge missions used to actually be a test of strategy, and now it's just "do you have the new broken shit? gee I hope so". No shocker the last few months I've basically barely opened it, with the Madoka crossover the primary reason I even opened it back up. I hope this kind of reaction gets Sega/Atlus to do an offline version soon-ish Thank you for covering this!!! This has been a fun watch EDIT: Your thoughts on the characters is exactly why Xana is my favorite character. She not only is an actually interesting character with an arc, unlike literally everyone else (maybe Vince in like ultra late story? even then meh), but she also isn't a loud trope spewer in my ear. She's just very pleasant and cool :) Finishing AG2 to unlock her is worth it imo but it takes a lot of investment so I understand why people don't

The funniest thing about this game for me is that my brother and I have been agreeing on how it would've been awesome if this game had a post apocalypse part of the story and had our characters on the team, we literally had that conversation a day before the Alter World update. I got tired of Tokyo Abyss too... with a good setup you can auto most battles. Further, when every three floors are that month´s specific boss you don´t have to strategize much after you find demons that null their attacks. I think the months I played were against surt and mastema when I could bring orthrus and principality to nuke their turn.

They didnt give us terminator because he isnt a demon He is a human specifically one of the messiah faction You can recruit him and make some broken fusions as you can with every human in smt 2 My guess is that they will only bring him back if another game has the messiah faction in it (honestly its due time smt 4 had the gaeans but the messiash where switched with the ashura kai so it doesnt count... I want the gaea and meddiah conflict to be back in the games)

I've play this game for 5+ years from the day it released. And i saw this game slowly turn into p2w hell. You can't even step into pvp without fully build team with all premium demons with panels and stuff. But ln the oter hand, this game pve is actually gold. And i agree that tokyo abbys should be this game main gameplay. Other that this, aura gate is also a fun mode specially aura gate 2. This one is more akin to original smt dungeon crawling, and i like it

This reminds me a bit of Arknights' Integrated Strategies. It's also an incredibly good rougelike game mode that is always there for you to play and costs no stamina or anything. They could expand that game mode a bit, make it into a separate regular game, and I'd totally play it.

I sort of see it, but sadly it's not that glamorous a comparison imo. IS has vastly toned down it's difficulty over time, to the point that IS5 is like a gentle breeze. the only time that it starts to get challenging is with the expansion, but it often overscales. Sure, the mechanics get more complex, but IS2 is like the closest to how TT feels to play. it's probably more to do with how middling it feels to invest in teams that are 5*s, you always either go no hope invest or full invest because of diminishing returns. Luckily TT doesn't have this issue, the 4*s are quite powerful an upgrade for almost no cost increase (which is funny since AK has too many 5*s, meanwhile D2 has like too little 4 *s) I dunno what i as aiming to state here (lost in the writing i guess) lol, but i guess i just wanted to say... My two bits is that TT feels way more personally engaging to play over a longer period of time, than IS, atleast the newer IS

The closest thing to the Tokyo Abyss are both the roguelike modes in the Hoyoverse games HSR and ZZZ, which are the aspects of the game I find fun and legit spent a few hours 3 to 4 days a week. The mechanics of running and choosing buffs and decision making in saving or gambling your resources is pretty fun. Also SMT IV is goated.

Man, SMT is my favorite videogame series and when Dx2 released I legit got a new phone just to be able to play it (also Nier Reincarnation...RIP) then after less than 3 hours of playing I uninstalled it and haven't looked back since then. The amount of mechanics, currencies, and resources was just ridiculous, as if they looked at an SMT game and went "how do we take every aspect of this and make it significantly worse?". Why would I waste time on a mediocre SMT gacha when I can just play almost any other game in the series instead?

I remember trying to find info on it and just giving up. I would only boot up dx2 (downloaded it looking for a mobile game since I had misplaced literally all my handhelds at the time) since I was ripping and running all the time back then. The game is fine, but I hate gacha. I would come back to get event crossover demons if I heard about them sometimes. Heard about abyss, but struggled finding info with how much I really cared lol. Cool it is as neat as it sounded.
