The tram in Shadows isn't the evolution of Tranzit's bus. It's the evolution of Origins' tank. An optional mode of transportation that is so out of the way most casual players will never even touch it, but a necessity for multiple easter eggs similar to the lightning staff parts with the tank. The Tranzit bus is basically the main method of transportation on its map because it is the simplest/easiest/safest method to get around. There has never been anything quite like the bus ever again after Tranzit. It just bothers me because some people will cite the tram in Shadows as one of the reasons Tranzit is one of the maps mashed up into Shadows, but that isn't true. It's just Mob and Origins, not really Tranzit at all.

@jaredc.37063 ай бұрын
@@DatHondaBoi223 I'd wager you're in a minority, I would say most casual players used the tank when the map first came out a lot but by the time people learned the map it became fairly obsolete (certainly in comparison to the Tranzit bus) unless you were getting staff parts or maybe running from a Panzer. I don't remember the tank being used much in pubs past the first like... month the map was out on BO2. Even when it dropped on BO3 the low level players weren't really using it though some of them could very well have been BO2 vets I guess.
@jaredc.3706Ай бұрын
@Jerma985_fan the tank is not an evolution of the bus, they're completely different things. the only similarity is that they act as a moving platform to stand on/in. The bus and the tank behave very differently. The bus is a free transportation that can be affected by a variety of gameplay elements and functions as the main method of travel on the map along with optional customization to increase effectiveness (ram) or further interact with the map (ladders). The tank is a buyable that cannot be affected by anything once it's in motion, has a hard cooldown that can't be sped up or extended. the tank is more of an evolution of the friggin minecart from Shangri La or lunar landers on Ascension than the bus, if anything it's a devolution of the bus because it's worse in almost every way on a map where it isn't particularly useful beyond lightning staff part collection or escaping panzers to begin with. calling the tram in Shadows an evolution of the Tranzit bus is an understandable connection to make, but silly once you actually think about it, especially if you're citing that as a reason Tranzit is a direct inspiration for Shadows. I'm positive the tank would still be in Origins even if the bus in Tranzit never existed.

I gotta disagree with some of the Jimmy Zelinski slander and Blundell glazing, saying the hells retriever was an innovation because it had a purpose beyond killing is kind of a straight up lie, like we had monkeys in WaW, we had gersh devises and QEDs(QED’s having the ability to do all sorts of random stuff). Downplaying some of the ways Jimmy innovated in bo2 is also quite criminal, I’ll agree die rise and transit aren’t great maps but they added some fun features, and ideas that were or could have been great, transit really fell victim to console limitations, low resources, and not enough development time

To get set up and just have a simple, good game of zombies, you have a giant “to do list”. Easter eggs used to be secret and only the hard core players knew about it. Nah that die rise not so great at the start made me kinda mad xD TLDR: I think different zombie maps get a lot of hate in comparison to others, it's all based on why and how you play the game. Things can get very repetetive when you have to do easter eggs/build stuff for the 150th time this year. I personally like playing zombies to reach high rounds (not world record but you know relatively high rounds) and im not a huge fan of 2 things in that regard. 1. Having to do an easter egg to get to a high round every time. 2. Having to craft a ton of stuff or do a ton of setup before i can "play" so to speak. In that regard i think die rise is great you build 2 things quite quickly and then you can just get into it. Moreover the many different rooms on different floors make for great areas for different challenges and often challenging training. I like mob of the dead its really cool and visually its stunning. But having to set everything up from the very start and the next 25 minutes or so if you are pretty fast, or maybe even an hour if you are a little slower/bad at the game, feels terrible if you wanna just jump in and start pushing some rounds. This is all my personal opinion ofc and i realise a lot of people love doing easter eggs and things like feeding dogs on mob since it looks cool and feels very much like progressing the zombies story overall. For doing many high round games back to back or even more low round challenges those maps feel terrible though.

Fun fact about "of the dead" Nacht Der Untoten means "night of the undead" Shi no numa means "swamp of the dead" Kino Der Toten means "cinema of the dead" There are more "of the dead" maps than just whats in English.

Here’s a trick for margwas on shadows of evil. When they spawn in they do an animation where all of their mouths are open. I used a shotgun or any high velocity/damage weapon and spam it when they’re in that spawn animation, destroys them in like 3 seconds.

Die Rise is actually pretty good tho imo, it has its own flair with that verticality and Office Theme. Dying from Fall is basically only a skill issue of the player, not a flaw of the map.

I can remember being dissapointed with tranzit but loving town even though it was small it was good fun. I bought the season pass and hated die rise, maybe played it 10 times total of my 1000s of hours on BO2, luckily I was busy grinding to master 1 on league play (which i hit btw) . Then they just started dropping banger after banger on zombies, got a world record solo on mob of the dead but it got taken an hour later, was also one of the first groups to find the easter egg on buried. This was one of the best times of my life, thanks for making this video :)

People just do not understand the amount of personality these older zombies maps had. Buildables, side quests, unique map features, new exclusive enemy types, stellar atmosphere n settings, etc which lack severely in modern zombies. Blundell really kept zombies together and the quality of zombies since then has regressed immensely. The replay value just isn't really there. I also feel like maps like shadows of evil naturally had the player learn the maps systems in an engaging way whereas modern zombie maps do not do this well. There was a lot to explore back then. The gameplay loop in Bo3 was peak, every single map felt very distinct in nearly every way imaginable. Innovation from map to map is what made zombies so great back then. Now there hardly is any innovation. Recycling enemy types, few map specific mechanics, warzone features in zombies (??) just to name a few. Anywho, great video! Popped up in my feed randomly.

Dead of the night is incredible and should be considered an of the dead map the cast is so good. The map is like second to none in its layout and it has the best wonder weapon ever. Thinking about it its basically shadows of evil 2.0... its got everything shadow has and more...

tbh, I really loved DieRise. One of my top 5. Just stop falling, 4head edit: 57:40 we both said pause at the same time lmao Edit 2: The majority of your complaints are about difficult movement. I'd be interested to know, what constitutes as "good movement" in a (zombies) game for you?

Hard to describe, I guess. The movement and mechanics in Black Ops 1 just feel right. So take that how you will

There are so many things that I can’t agree with. Tranzit and die rise were both amazing maps. They were a lot of fun. No one I ever played back in the day ever had anything bad to say about them. I’d put them both above many other zombie maps actually as some of the best zombie maps ever. I remember having so much fun with them. The only thing I may agree about tranzit is the way to pack a punch. Also I remember no one liking the giant. No one I ever knew played it. We all played shadows of evil. The giant was considered the bad boring map while shadows of evil was the good fun

@@KeinProblem-uv5jh yeah I said it was a good map... But for veteran round 100 strat players that liked challenges, it's just not that hard to play and gets boring. We usually only play it just for a casual, fun laid back game though. I agree with you, it has a lot of features that keeps it interesting. But after round 25, all you're doing behond that point is laying back down at jugg with the paralyzer and your traps set up. Pretty much on God mode at that point and no zombies is laying even a finger on you

my problem back then was that i quit zombies after mob of the dead, transit and die rise ruined all of my enthusiasm for zombies, so when i tried out shadows of evil i was so sick of the having to watch a video to learn a map, i just wanted something simple like kino der toten, not the mess that transit was

Saying how Zelinski never delivered on innovation yet saying he created a map based on verticality not horizontally is weird. That is an innovation, you may not like it but any map prior or even afterwards has yet to do it. Thus is an innovation

Bo3 was the first cod game I got around when it came out. Dad wouldn't let me buy The Giant so I was stuck with shadows of evil. I played that so much that I was able to get PAP open at like round 3 or 4 almost every time i loaded up a game. If the easter egg could have been done in single player i would have done it probably 100 times over.
