The tram in Shadows isn't the evolution of Tranzit's bus. It's the evolution of Origins' tank. An optional mode of transportation that is so out of the way most casual players will never even touch it, but a necessity for multiple easter eggs similar to the lightning staff parts with the tank. The Tranzit bus is basically the main method of transportation on its map because it is the simplest/easiest/safest method to get around. There has never been anything quite like the bus ever again after Tranzit. It just bothers me because some people will cite the tram in Shadows as one of the reasons Tranzit is one of the maps mashed up into Shadows, but that isn't true. It's just Mob and Origins, not really Tranzit at all.

I don't remember the tank being used much in pubs past the first like... month the map was out on BO2. Downplaying some of the ways Jimmy innovated in bo2 is also quite criminal, I’ll agree die rise and transit aren’t great maps but they added some fun features, and ideas that were or could have been great, transit really fell victim to console limitations, low resources, and not enough development time

To get set up and just have a simple, good game of zombies, you have a giant “to do list”. Easter eggs used to be secret and only the hard core players knew about it. Jason blundel helped streamline what Jimmy made. Motd was just that. A smoother buildable system with some minor innovations like the feeding the dogs. Buildables, side quests, unique map features, new exclusive enemy types, stellar atmosphere n settings, etc which lack severely in modern zombies. Blundell really kept zombies together and the quality of zombies since then has regressed immensely. The replay value just isn't really there. I also feel like maps like shadows of evil naturally had the player learn the maps systems in an engaging way whereas modern zombie maps do not do this well. There was a lot to explore back then. The gameplay loop in Bo3 was peak, every single map felt very distinct in nearly every way imaginable. Innovation from map to map is what made zombies so great back then. Now there hardly is any innovation. Recycling enemy types, few map specific mechanics, warzone features in zombies (??) just to name a few. Anywho, great video! Popped up in my feed randomly.

Nah that die rise not so great at the start made me kinda mad xD TLDR: I think different zombie maps get a lot of hate in comparison to others, it's all based on why and how you play the game. Things can get very repetetive when you have to do easter eggs/build stuff for the 150th time this year. I personally like playing zombies to reach high rounds (not world record but you know relatively high rounds) and im not a huge fan of 2 things in that regard. 1. Having to do an easter egg to get to a high round every time. 2. Having to craft a ton of stuff or do a ton of setup before i can "play" so to speak. In that regard i think die rise is great you build 2 things quite quickly and then you can just get into it. Moreover the many different rooms on different floors make for great areas for different challenges and often challenging training. I like mob of the dead its really cool and visually its stunning. But having to set everything up from the very start and the next 25 minutes or so if you are pretty fast, or maybe even an hour if you are a little slower/bad at the game, feels terrible if you wanna just jump in and start pushing some rounds. This is all my personal opinion ofc and i realise a lot of people love doing easter eggs and things like feeding dogs on mob since it looks cool and feels very much like progressing the zombies story overall. For doing many high round games back to back or even more low round challenges those maps feel terrible though.

Dude. I watched this crossfaded at 3 in the morning, so hear me out. I'm 29 years old & I miss the way I used to feel about zombies. But I just want you to know; you just sent me through a time capsule. I was such a fan of zombies through my life that I attribute certain timeframes in my life (like what I was doing at the time, who I was hanging with, and what job I was working) to what map I was playing at the time. What's crazy, upon revisit, all these years later, is that these three maps oddly also coincide with some of my best memories in life. COTD - My brother and I locking ourselves in our room to play this map for hours to avoid the screaming of family around. MOTD - My senior year of high school, and one of the most fun times ever; chill smoke sessions with your best buds after school, and house parties on the weekends. SOE - Ahh... 20 years old. Best shape of my life, was making more money than now even though it was $6 less, just cause of how much inflation has gone up since then, and I was innocent to true heartbreak. Just me and my brother once again playing zombies for the fun of it. And just the memory of that alone was special. By 2015 I hadn't really kept up with call of duty, so when I got a call out of the blue from my brother, that he'd just bought the new Black Ops, and that he said there was zombies on it; I raced right over. I mean we're talking so fast that they hadn't even patched the game for splitscreen yet!!😂 Anyway, what I'm getting at, is a Thank You. Thank you for letting me truly reminisce in my past, and the fun in zombies that paired along the way. I commend your hard work. An hour and twenty minute video couldn't have been easy to edit, or script for that matter, and as a placeholder for another video no less!! Don't stop posting man. This nearly 30yo man got to shed a tear of joy from memories.

Saying how Zelinski never delivered on innovation yet saying he created a map based on verticality not horizontally is weird. That is an innovation, you may not like it but any map prior or even afterwards has yet to do it. Thus is an innovation

21:36 mentions his roles in the matrix and memento, surely its because we don't admit this existence of this thing of ours... ever!

Loving the video so far. I agree with nuketown being a cheap way to make zombies map, but man it just really works as a zombies map and it’s one of the few maps that actually gets more difficult and fun the more people you have in game with the lack of training spots

just gotta say. Even as a 12 year I never struggled with die rise. Falling to your death is simply a skill issue. It's my second favourite bo2 map behind motd

There was a beta test for both COD 4 and WaW. For World at War I’m fairly certain that was a big pre order bonus

I enjoy the suspense and hook of the intro but there’s not a single person who thinks that black ops 2 zombies was dying and uninteresting it was peaking and desired but I enjoy the appreciation video

Imo shadows is a slightly easier map than the giant once you're fully set up Apothicon servant, keeper sword, and lil arnies can carry you quite a long way
@MPKMonkeyStuntingonyt2 ай бұрын
honestly never understood the tranzit hate. like yeah it was not the best, but if it was executed a little better, it may have been one of the best zombies maps ever

I think Der eisendrache would’ve been the perfect release map bc it’s less complicated but just as cool to warm us up

Curious how the Origins shield is a perfected version of the MOTD shield when functionally they are the exact same, only difference being asthetics

Bo3 was the first cod game I got around when it came out. Dad wouldn't let me buy The Giant so I was stuck with shadows of evil. I played that so much that I was able to get PAP open at like round 3 or 4 almost every time i loaded up a game. If the easter egg could have been done in single player i would have done it probably 100 times over.

tbh, I really loved DieRise. One of my top 5. Just stop falling, 4head edit: 57:40 we both said pause at the same time lmao Edit 2: The majority of your complaints are about difficult movement. I'd be interested to know, what constitutes as "good movement" in a (zombies) game for you?
@Det_Somerset3 ай бұрын
Hard to describe, I guess. The movement and mechanics in Black Ops 1 just feel right. So take that how you will

There are so many things that I can’t agree with. Tranzit and die rise were both amazing maps. They were a lot of fun. No one I ever played back in the day ever had anything bad to say about them. I’d put them both above many other zombie maps actually as some of the best zombie maps ever. I remember having so much fun with them. The only thing I may agree about tranzit is the way to pack a punch. Also I remember no one liking the giant. No one I ever knew played it. We all played shadows of evil. The giant was considered the bad boring map while shadows of evil was the good fun

The WaW zombies maps from Rezurrection were actually were ported directly from the original game. I was disappointed as well when I found out but it makes sense, can’t fix what’s not broken.
@Rhythm162.2 күн бұрын
my problem back then was that i quit zombies after mob of the dead, transit and die rise ruined all of my enthusiasm for zombies, so when i tried out shadows of evil i was so sick of the having to watch a video to learn a map, i just wanted something simple like kino der toten, not the mess that transit was

I know this has probably been said a few times but Round 100 on CoTD has been broken as of almost 4 months ago.

Good damn how I love these hour long Videos ❤ I have to say I ❤ Tranzit and Die Rise. It was so much fun to play when they released. I wouldn't play them today. But they where fun. By the way my favorite maps are Mob of the Dead, Origins, Moon and Der Eisendrache.
