I think the problem is he wants to keep the channel going but it isn’t financially viable at the moment hence he’s started taking sponsors. The other part of that is he’s more sensitive to outside noise because he thinks if he addresses all the naysayers then he’ll be able to grow it financially. However, all that will happen is he will end up diluting what made him successful to begin with.

I do like the all-in-one approach, but to me, spending $199 to replace a process I'm already able to do with the plugins that I have is just not worth it to me. Positive takeaways for me are: - FX Ducking, which works wonders and allows you to crank up delays and reverbs; more effects plugins should feature this. - Pre-selected drag points on the EQ curve controls; tailored to quickly dial in/back harshness, air, body etc. - No shouting during the review process ;)

As vocals are out of the tune, most of the time. Its not advised to use vocals as a source material for the key finder. You run the instrumental through the keyfinder and whatever the key it gives will be accurate majority of the time. Then you tune the vocals to that X-Minor / Y-Major

I love this thing. Just got my first Apollo and this comes out at the same time. It’s the new GEN two. Had to get them both and it’s my new default tracking FX plug-in so I don’t have to waste resources running SSL channel strips and serial compressors just to track vocals
@JimGramzeАй бұрын
I have several of these vocal combo plugs and this one is by far the best. I don’t use the auto tune or the de-esser, but the rest is solid gold. I also was not using the format control but as I saw you tweak it briefly along with its mix knob that looks extremely useful. I don’t use this exclusively on a vocal but it does most of the heavy lifting. Also I tend to use EQ before and after compression: out with the bad, compress, then in with the good basically.

My vocal plugin chain is Melodyne for fixing pitch if needed, stock EQ to dump some of the rumbly low end and maybe cut some frequencies I don't like, 1176 UA Plugin set to limit just the really hot notes, LA-2A UA Plugin set to taste, and then if I need it I might use Soothe 2 to "smooth" things out. I've been experimenting with putting Soothe 2 into different spots in the plugin chain. I'd say my chain is a lot more complicated than this plugin, but to my ears it sounds a lot better. I really like the UA plugins a lot.

Unlike PSP Audioware, e.g. Saturator, the wooden rims and classic look of the plugin discussed above do not bother you this time? What a turn !

Everything points to E minor as far as the key goes. And of course, you can always turn off the tuning module =] I’m of the camp that goes corrective first, then dynamics, then creative, which includes “enhancement”. So for vocals, address things like sibilance or mud or unwanted resonances first. Then go for dynamics. Then additional processing that will enhance the character of the vocal and this could include boosts to make it stand out in the mix.
@Wizardofvoz2Ай бұрын
G
@Wizardofvoz2Ай бұрын
And Sweet Home Alabama is also,in the key of G. Imdid a few shows with Ed King, and HE told me so.
@DerekPowerАй бұрын
@@Wizardofvoz2 He also said that this is just the vocal and there are no other instruments at the moment. Furthermore, it could be that the verses are in E minor, but perhaps the chorus could be in G (a classic move in plenty of songs). Until other parts come into play, I am very sure this is supposed to be E minor. Also, the key confusion that does arise with Sweet Home Alabama is whether it’s G major or D Mixolydian. But yes, the melody does not necessarily have to contain the root or be “in the key”. But again, that only becomes apparent when you have other instruments at play. Context is everything. And yes, if other parts would come into play, it could be something else. In fact, the underlining chord could be a G6.
@johanneschristopherstahle3395Ай бұрын
Since the plugin suggested D/Bm as well, there might be parts in the melody where she sings a C# instead of a C. If songs don't stick to one major or minor scale it should be safer to use the chromatic scale (or make up a custom scale if you know what accidentals are being used). I'm certainly not a fan of automatic tuning, but in the end it's a stylistic choice. By now people are so used to hearing over-tuned vocals that this is the sound that's kinda expected by many people.
@MarcoPrimeauАй бұрын
Since dynamics are more affected by low frequencies, you can do a hi-pass filter before dynamics and EQ the rest of the frequencies after ;)
