Thanks so much for watching, everybody! How many games do you have in your backlog? As always, if you dug the video, giving it a "like" really does help it spread to more people! :)

I'm going to give this a shot because my backlog is insane. Something else that I try to tackle two games: A short one, around 6-10 hours and a long one. This allows for variety, but still knocking out games at a steady pace.
@Wilson-1082 ай бұрын
Let me know if it works well for you! That's a great approach. I didn't mention it in the video, but I always alternate between my physical library and my digital library, which tends to include smaller games. It's really nice to get a palate cleanser after some 50 hour epic, haha.

Great video. This is how I work through my backlog: I take two games from my collection. And the one that doesn't have "Resident Evil 2" as the title, I throw it in the garbage and then play Resident Evil 2. And I just keep doing that over and over again.

Nice video Wilson :) The backlog will never be finished, there are too many games. As someone who is also open to basically any genre of game I feel like it's impossible to complete every game that I'm interested in. My strategy is play one game at a time until completion and then move on to the next. (probably a bad strategy, but I have accepted my fate)
@Wilson-1082 ай бұрын
Thanks Luka!! Yeah, I've accepted that I'll never catch up, haha. I think that's the only way to do it, honestly. I guess I didn't definitively mention it in the video, but I only play 1 at a time as well. I either beat it, or bail if I'm not enjoying myself, but I only ever play one game at a time.

Love this system you brought up, I would also add that doing mini reviews after each game you finish is also fun way to engage with games after you finish them. I just do a google spreadsheet and do a quick thought on the game and a score.
@Wilson-1082 ай бұрын
That's a great idea, I really like that! What your highest rated game in recent memory? Honestly, this KZbin channel serves a similar function for me. Whatever I'm playing at the moment often dictates the video topics for me, which I really enjoy.
@greyspot0014 күн бұрын
My problem is when do I move on from a game? When I get bored, even if I don't finish it? What about games that don't have an ending? Open world games with endless side missions?
@Wilson-10814 күн бұрын
Good questions! I wish I'd talked a bit more about this in the video. I've gotten better at ditching a game if I don't like it. I used to try and play through everything, but now I've learned that it's better to stop playing a game if I'm not enjoying it. I tend to avoid games that don't have an ending for that very reason, haha. Open world games I kind of just feel out. I try to do all that I can until I'm not having much fun. At that point, I just focus on the main story until I get the itch to do more side stuff. But these are tough questions to answer, for sure!
@alex.g73172 ай бұрын
Personally what I do to prevent creating a backlog is I have a Pending collection where the max amount of games I can fit in are twelve. This is so the backlog doesn’t become overwhelming. I also hide steam sale notifications, made the default homepage be the library and remove all news. Steams system is to make you want to buy as many games as possible with sales and recommendations. That’s why _only_ Steam backlogs get so big! When you only have Pending Collection it’s much easier to focus on… Also to prevent hoarding games further. Ignore sales. It’s a physiological trick to get you to spend money in a limited amount of time. Also if you really want to play a game that seems interesting, Wishlist it. Rule of thumb is: if your buying more than your playing, you’ll always bloat your library and you’ll never finish your backlog. First step is to stop buying games and/or deleting some.
@Wilson-1082 ай бұрын
This is a really great approach, thanks for sharing! I think you really hit the nail on the head with your last sentences. You need to be finishing more games than you're buying, or you'll never reach the bottom of the queue. I *think* I've managed that so far this year, haha.

There are type A personality types that find fun in engaging with what they do, rather than a vague notion of fun. For example example I used a time to complete system to build up a completion rhythm and then switched to random selection, with a few detours here and there, as my go to system
@robslams2324Ай бұрын
My method is pretty simple. I just picked the game I want to play and I see it through to the end or until I’m done with it and then I move on that’s the best way to enjoy your media is to consume one thing at a time.
@Wilson-108Ай бұрын
Totally agree! I didn't drill down on that as much as I wish I had in the video, but playing just one game at a time is huge for me. I used to play so many at once and it was completely overwhelming...

Awesome video as always man! May have to give this a go. As for me I keep a game journal where I record every game I beat and do little drawings and pre review notes before I make my review videos. I also use this Google sheet system designed by the channel Orbaology which allows you to input your whole backlog and then set them based on how interested you are in playing them on a scale of 1-5. Then if you ever need a game and can’t figure out what to play, you can randomize it and it will give you a game. The different drop rates are basically affected by how much you are interested in the game
@Wilson-1082 ай бұрын
Thanks so much as always, Ploop! That's a great method, good to take notes given how in depth your reviews are. I've never even heard of Orbaology, but that sounds awesome! I'll have to check that out, sounds like a cool meta game.

Here is my method and it’s probably the least popular method. I prioritize length and storage along with what I currently have downloaded. So if I have a game downloaded that only takes 10 hrs and takes up a lot of space, like 50gb, then that goes to the top of the list so I can delete it.

However, when I see a Wilson video pop up in my recommendations, I click. It's just the thing to do.
