I don’t like pies, never did but since I started milling my own flour this could be a challenge and another way to continue learning. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry so many comments, but WOWIE....!!!! That is perhaps THE most gorgeous pie crust I have ever seen! I can't wait to make it!

I just copied by hand your recipe on your website for this onto a recipe card and I am SO grateful and IMPRESSED how clear and careful and thoughtful your instructions are. You are amazing! I plan to do a "dress rehearsal" for pie crust tomorrow using half the recipe, getting ready to make a very special pie for Thanksgiving. Thank you so very much. If I had some dough of the green kind I'd throw some at you right NOW...!

Your new Grain sponsor is only a couple hours from my farm. Going to give them a call tomorrow. I will tell them you sent me. 😁 Can't wait to try the crust. Made dinner rolls from your bread recipe. Made a big hit. Thanks for the great videos

Thank you! I see since the other video with sweet potato pie, you have made some changes like using parchment paper and adding apple cider vinegar. I’m glad I saw both before I get started.

A couple questions: would it be all right to use rice flour for that last stage of flouring the parchement paper on the bottom and the top of the crust? Well, the other question I guess I'll figure out elsewhere (as to what temperature to bake it and for how long if I will be filling with fruit or pumpkin filler). That is, is it normally done that you cook the filling at the same time you cook the crust? Dumb question I know, but now in my 70s and baking is NEW to me -- especially pies!

Thank your for a whole wheat pie crust recipe that actually works! I made it this week and it was great. Hint: I rolled the second one out on plastic wrap, which worked a lot better than the parchment paper.

I LOVE when mistakes are added in videos. It really helps me to understand better and not worry. That pie and crust looks great! ❤ I have always used vinegar in my pie crust recipe and it makes it better. I checked out the 4Generations website and I’m going to try them next. I already ordered from another source for my first wheat berries. Also ordered sunflower lecithin. I don’t have the funds to get a Wondermill grain mill yet, so I got a coffee bean grinder for under $20 at Walmart to get started. THEN…. I had to have surgery on my hand last week so my bucket of hard red berries, lecithin, and coffee grinder are sitting on a counter staring at me every time I pass by! I can hardly wait to begin! I have so many health issues that could be addressed by using fresh milled flour. But I will be patient and give God the glory in all things! I had been making homemade bread for a while, but one of your videos on fresh milled whole flour came up in my feed (thanks to God). You led me to Sue Becker and I have been blown away by learning from you and Sue! Thank you so much for making the effort to share your journey. I know it will help me and my family so much. Please keep your mistakes included because I’m sure we all will encounter those slip ups. God bless you, Felicia!❤ Looking forward to more recipes!

Thank you, Felicia. I am going to give the pie crust a try. I have a recipe I love, but I would prefer to start using whole grain flour for my crust. I am now headed over to the Grainie Bunch page to check out this week's recipes. Pam

can soft organic red wheat be used? I am in Qc. Canada and not easy to find soft white wheat
@deborahsmith-sf5kg24 күн бұрын
I mixed spelt, hard red and soft white because I didn’t have enough soft white and mine turned out wonderfully.
@H_isforHomesteadАй бұрын
Curious what I could replace soft white wheat with? My daughter can only handle ancient grains unfortunately. I use kamut most often but I think it acts like a hard wheat not soft. Have you ever used emmer? Or red fife? Or einkorn?
@GrainsandGritАй бұрын
Absolutely, just search my channel for all those videos. Now, is she consuming 100% freshly milled, whole-grain flour?
@H_isforHomesteadАй бұрын
Yes, freshly milled ancient grains. She can handle all purpose kamut on occasion especially is I sour/soak it.

Can you tell me which pies you need to bake before adding filling and which you don’t need to bake first?
@GrainsandGrit24 күн бұрын
All depends on the recipe. If the filling itself isn’t baked, you need to bake the pie crust. If the filling also needs to be baked, follow the recipe directions for pie crusts 😀

Thanks, better than my kamut pie crust. Average Time and temp. Please?
@GrainsandGrit Жыл бұрын
Time and temp all depends on what you’re baking. I would go by whatever the recipe you’re using says. Most of them say whether to bake the pie crust and for how long. Or at least the ones I’ve seen 😀
