Why is the periodic table arranged the way it is? There are specific reasons, you know. Because of the way we organize the elements, there are special patterns that emerge. And you know how Professor Dave feels about patterns. He likes them.

thanks for asking. I got a B in the class. i did good enough on the final to get a B in the class. I graduated with my associates degree with high honors. I had straight As until I took this chemistry course (I had never taken a chemistry course in my whole entire life yet i thought i should take a level 2 chemistry course like an idiot) so I was about to get a full scholarship to governors state university and i just graduated this may in computer science. I also was able to get a job right after my associate degree with a software development company. had i not had your videos my gpa would have been less than 3.8 and i wouldn't have got my full scholarship that lead to my bachelors.

I also took general chemistry at my Community college. Mainly because my Engineering friend, that was competitive with me in my math classes, was taking it. I quickly came to regret that decision. I had to transfer to a lower intro version of the course because I felt overwhelmed in the first lecture and I just couldn't get interested because I felt like I was just memorizing stuff instead of learning anything. I ended up getting a B on it like you because I put more time in the classes I was actually interested in. It wasn't until I took Quantum Mechanics and I knew where stuff came from, on a more fundamental level, that I got interested in Chemistry. @@JimmyGeniusEllis

Trying to get my head round the concept of the elements. Is the basic idea that all matter is made from the same basic material ie collections of electrons, neutrons and protons and the only thing that changes what they actually are is the number of these components? I feel like it's a naive question but it would help my understanding a lot if you could put me right on this.

Thank you. My question is in the atomic model (Bhor's model) - it proposes the presence of protons, electrons and neutrons. the question is, is there a direct way of measuring electrons, protons and neutrons? are they physically existing or they are a model to describe measured effects or manifestations ( in other words, they don't have physical existence)?

Prof Dave is an OG. I've failed chemistry 3 times, but it is required for my major, even though I will never really use the material for my major... Dumb I know. I just haven't really cared in the past but now I'm near graduation and HAVE to pass. His videos help explain things more thoroughly as lecture hall material can move very rapidly. And most lecture hall profs could care less about the kids anyways... too many of em lol

Did not failing more than once affect your score? I failed two subjects (in my foundation year nonetheless) and it wrecked my GPA
