I really needed to hear this, thank-you. I care for my husband and had to make the difficult decision to place him in a care facility. He wants to drive again, go on road trips, work, the list is endless. He is difficult to distract and his focus on what he can't do or can't have would be admirable in many other ways but this becomes a battle line he refuses to retreat from. It is exhausting as he is so repetitive in his demands.

Give up the battle. Quietly do things that will keep him safe: 'lose keys', agree with going to work, but today they are closed, be smart in the white lies, as he cannot confirm information, and look, but don't show the 'humour' in these requests. Your sanity is important at this stage.

Thanks. Didn’t hear about this one. Frustrating when I’d like to use a calm voice but my loved one can’t hear and won’t use hearing aid so I have to speak loudly and he thinks I’m yelling at him. It makes things worse.😢
