In this video I share with you my personal statement. I was honestly very hesitant to share this and tbh I thought I never would because of how vulnerable it feels to me, but I figured maybe it would help someone out there.

Mexican immigrant here. I’m applying to law school this month and your personal statement hit home. Thank you for inspiring me to keep going on this unknown path that no one in my family has ever taken before. It’s scary but your story encourages me to be brave. 🇲🇽 🇺🇸

I think that background heavy personal statements like yours ( and mine) are fueled by love, we see ourselves and our loved ones in our patients and it makes a massive difference when you care to that degree. When youve lived these experiences it makes a difference when youre in a position to help and provide care. Im proud of you and I look to your content when I feel like giving up on my own path in medicine. Ngl its been rough, I didnt do well first round of exams and its hard not to feel like im not smart enough for this. The content you guys make helps me feel less alone when im the only latina in the room at school.

What an outstanding personal statement. The life experiences will allow you to be a unique provider, the type we need in the field. I hope you specialize in a field close to critical care as the majority of our patients come from vulnerable populations.

Thank you for your vulnerability. We need to hear it. Like you, I’m a first time college graduate in my family. I have had to fight hard and claw my way out of trauma to get where I am today. Now I’m an Instructional Designer for UCLA Health IT. I’m living the dreams of my 20s. You are an inspiration! Keep pushing forward and share your stories. They help more than you know.

Thank you. I’m applying to medical school this upcoming cycle. My experiences hardly measure up to yours as a first generation American, but I hope my parents stories can live on through me, and I hope I can really help bridge the gaps. I hope my personal statement can even be half as eloquent as yours was.

thank you so much brother. Siga luchando, you inspire me. a first generation, mexican-american woman. I grew up straight up poor, man thanks so much. I hope to one day give you a shoutout, or inspiration as well when I write out my thesis for nursing school. I love your tiktoks too, I hope one day to listen to Tigres de Norte, y "son de amores," without crying, without reminding myself of the sad times of my dad swirling me around as a kid- still naive to my past reality, and current one of having to work ten times harder to be seen, but I know now with your help as well- that its bigger than me, bigger than us, to help elevate and inspire others to pursue the medical field, or any field and to Stan firm in our identities, what makes us us (being Mexican-american, being hella tech savvy with y'alls tiktoks, etc!) STAY FIRME COMPA

Your so brave for showing this amount of vulnerability in a world that prides itself of hiding in the shadows about everything to look/portray themselves in a certain way so thank you so much for sharing your personal statement it was beautiful. Overall shout out to this whole channel for representing number one 🇲🇽 but also letting me see that dam bro were not just out here for labor intensive jobs like the stereotypes make us out to be were out here doing the dam thing IN WHITE COATS BABY both of you keep killing it with the content never stop being you and thank you again💙💙💙

Thank you so much for sharing. I was a clinical coordinator at my university's mobile clinic during college and at times felt like we weren't doing enough, but hearing your personal story definitely opened my eyes to the impact we do have, even if it feels small sometimes.

Thank you so much for choosing to be vulnerable not just with med school admissions, but also with us. So many of us in this community share similar stories and your voice has given us the confidence to move forward with writing and sticking to our story. I also have never been able to relate to other personal statements I’ve heard or read, but this hit home. Ngl I cried 😭. Ty for this y que diosito te siga cuidando y dando el don 🫶🏽

I still remember my personal statement when I applied to CSU Fresno, and trust me, it was background filled. Our unique background and life experiences shape our perspective and desire to achieve.
