In December 1997, The Financial Times ran an article entitled “The Death of Gold.” Since then, the gold price in US dollars has increased 519% from $288 to $1,780. Today, after many political events and crises we have evidence of the continuous and in many ways spectacular growth of the gold price. This confluence of many current events is creating a perfect storm for gold to increase dramatically more than we imagined.

@@stevexracer4309 are you talking about the recent news about the Perth? Do you think their popularity is going to tank because of it?
@TheRealHoltzy Жыл бұрын
@@stevexracer4309 you should probably review your 'facts'. Perth mint did nothing wrong, it's just China with a weird, dumb rule on silver. If the impurities had been copper or any other metal besides silver, there would have been no issue. Perth mint has since upped it's minimum base purity to address the issue.
@TheRealHoltzy Жыл бұрын
@@stevexracer4309 they got 99.99%, you flop. That wasn't the problem, the problem was with what that other 0.01% exceeded 50ppm of SILVER. Had that 0.01% been nickel or some other crap metal, it wouldn't have been a problem. That's it. Never diluted that 99.99% once. Their actual minimum refinement was around 99.992% and they changed it following this to a minimum of 99.996% refinement which ensures that the impurity ppm cannot possibly exceed 50 ppm again. Beijing needs to stop trying to cherry pick what the impurities of a bar are, they are the ONLY country with these dumb requirements, so no, to those that ignored the hyped Chinese story and actually bothered finding out what the issue was, we already know it was a non event and Perth mint more than 'made up for it' when they never did a thing wrong. Australia's always been a much more open culture on all this sort of stuff. That's not to say our government doesn't hide things, but we're encouraged to actually explore & learn & be educated on a whole range of stuff. I loved a while back when the navy crashed a helicopter on Sydney Harbour. They managed to land it in a nearby park. I can imagine if that happened in the US, it would be closed off & no-one allowed near it "for security reasons" (mostly meaning to hide the embarrassment of the crash). Being Australia though, they just posted a navy person at the helicopter to make sure no-one did anything to cause any serious problems & used it as a PR exercise as little kids came to see it & play with the new piece of play equipment in their park lol. No attempt at all to keep people away, quite the opposite, people were walking their dogs & driving down just to see it up close & the navy were using it to recruit & generally increase their positive profile in the community. It's just our culture to let us see how things work up close & personal
