Hi, I think you left the power amp section in the Shur plugin activated, so there are two power amps running in a row, the one from the real amp and the one from the plugin and that possibly alters and muddies the tone of the real power amp. Is it correct in this case to deactivate the power amp of the plugin or work with the two power amps in series, the real one and the emulated one? .Thanks

Great and useful video! Regarding your video recording, how are you capturing the sound from the computer during playback? Is it camera audio thru the monitors or do you have a direct line? Thanks for your help and congratulations on this video!
@BigHairyGuitars5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's actually a big pain. I have to setup a separate standalone digital audio recorder that captures the system output direct. Then in FCPX I line up the direct feed from Logic, and the camera mic.
@PedroBellora5 жыл бұрын
@@BigHairyGuitars Ouch, I feel your pain! It's really a drag to do it that way, but it's certainly a reliable way to record the audio output. What are you using as an standalone audio-recorder? Thanks a bunch for your help and quick reply!

@@PedroBellora I'll have to double check tomorrow. I think it's a Tascam handheld. It has 2 mics, but also 2 XLR inputs. It's really reliable, when you remember to hit record. haha.

Awesome content!! Like always... do you turnoff the preamp session and on the power amp and cab right?? Do you know any plugin that have only the Poweramp? Or other amp (No UAD) that I can turnoff the amp and use the power session?
@BigHairyGuitars5 жыл бұрын
The TwoNotes Torpedo software has a power amp section and other incredibly useful processor in the 1 plugin. It's free, but you can purchase additional cabs.

I thought Pete would normally use MixIR-2 for this? (You hate me now, don't you :O) Either way, it works, and we like stuff that works! Thanks for the demos, and for the fun you put into all your videos, which make them a a joy to watch.

Dude you make the BEST videos! Fun and informative, that’s why I love your channel! Nice Metro D! Do you have a favorite Friedman axe since you have and/or have played them all (pick you desert island axe)?
@BigHairyGuitars5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian!!! :) The only one I haven't played is the S style. My favorite is a toss up between the Cali and the NOHO24. The Cali is like VH, Warren Dimartini and the NOHO is like Petrucci/Paul Gilbert. Those 2 necks just sit perfectly in my hand.

may i ask why you leave the poweramp switch on in the plugin
@80s_kid Жыл бұрын
To be honest, this doesn't solve always the problem. Let's mention that in the cabinet section of the Brainworx plugins, you can turn on automatic IR switching - you can specify the switching speed in bars - which is a very good feature. By listening back to a specific part, we can quickly run through a lot of IR files, without having to use the mouse and the guitar. Unfortunately, we cannot load/route our own IRs to this specific module.

I just got the two notes captor x mostly because I’m waiting fryette to combind his IR loader and powerstation. There’d be nothing better
@lydfar23925 жыл бұрын
Oooor, you could just use an IR player and your favorite IR's? Are the ones in UA/Brainworx better than others? What are the advantages of doing this...? Thanks 🙂
@BigHairyGuitars5 жыл бұрын
Yep. You can totally use an IR player and your favorite IR. Especially in the beginning of using IR's, it was hard to go through 1,000 IR's to find ones I liked. This streamlines it. Makes it easy.
@lydfar23925 жыл бұрын
@@BigHairyGuitars Ah, I see... I wasn't sure if UAD had some advantages to other IR's in regard to quality... For example, if their ampsims are coded the same way, as the IR's in their new OX load box - or ampsims are just normal IR standard? Hope it makes sense. ☺️

How do you like the ds100 vs the ds40 M?
@BigHairyGuitars5 жыл бұрын
They're both pretty phenomenal. The 40 is little nicer, the 100 is a howitzer! Funny story, the DS mini had just come out, and I was borrowing it from Dave. I was back at the shop to return it, but the door was locked. So while I'm waiting, another dude comes up to wait. George Lynch! I guess George had prototyped a 100w DS and didn't like it because there wasn't enough compression to the notes. ha! That's what I love about the 100w.

VERY nice! Kinda a cross between a SG (Because of the small body) and a SC PRS (because of the fit and finish). It rings out with a clear grand piano kinda clarity. It's not as deep and throaty as a Les Paul, but it still has a little more spank than your typical Les Paul. AND it's light! Very nice weight.

Let me get this out of the way right now to sound like an idiot....what is an IR? Sorry guys! Kinda new into this world.
@_errnest_5 жыл бұрын
IR is an Impulse Response. It simulates Microphone + Guitar Cabinet sound in response to the amplifier output. To load them You need IR Loader, loads of them are free. Basically You can try them out using free VST plugins. 🚨⛔️❗️But remember that You cannot plug Your Amplifier Output directly into Your interface. ⛔️❗️ More info here! joeysturgistones.com/blogs/learn/getting-started-with-impulse-responses-for-guitar

So I started engineering in analog studios 22 years ago, and I'm still confused by this. Why not just capture a more pleasing sound in the first place? The raw track is just ugly. Unless that was your intent and you were going to just go with it, why print that at all?
@BigHairyGuitars5 жыл бұрын
the raw sound is simply the sound coming out of the guitar head with no speaker attached. The amp sounds GREAT coming out of the speaker. It's LOUD. Not something that someone in an apartment could possibly track late at night. However, you can capture the sound of the amp, then replace your real speaker cab, with a cabinet IR, and get a close approximation of a mic'd up cab, but you get the benefit of using a real tube head.

@@BigHairyGuitars Is It possibile to do theopposite? Like use a vst amp e enter in a miced up cab n?
