On Day 5 the Pfeiffers pack up the tent, make breakfast sandwiches, get coffee and hot chocolate, and enter Glacier National Park. The scenery is overwhelmingly beautiful and majestic. The Pfeiffers drive up the Going to the Sun road carefully navigating the narrow and winding mountain road up to the visitor center at Logan's Pass. Everyone is surprised to see how much snow still covers the Hidden Lake Overlook trail. While the family makes a serious effort to hike to the overlook, the snow and rain is too much. In spite of not reaching the overlook, they still get many breathtaking views of the snow covered mountains. After the hike, the Pfeiffers keep driving the Going to the Sun Road and see Saint Mary's Lake and the awesome Wild Goose Island viewpoint. The Pfeiffers get many fantastic pictures and then turn around and take the Going to the Sun road back to Lake McDonald. At Lake McDonald, Dad and the kids rent a boat to fish Lake McDonald for a couple of hours. While they did not catch any fish, the views of the mountains from the lake were astounding. After the boat ride, the Pfeiffers leave Glacier National Park and get some dinner at A & W on the way to their hotel in Spokane, Washington. After the Northwest trip was completed, the Pfeiffers concluded that Glacier National Park was one of their favorites. Glacier National Park has some of the most beautiful scenery and provided the circumstances for some of the most cherished memories of the whole trip.
