Yeah, this was a song by a group called South Border. Michael was in that group. It’s a pretty old Filipino song. I saw the video but I am totally addicted to this version of the song, except they could have shoved a flute in the background on the bus. They did this song in 2003. No I can’t believe it. I just discovered it and it’s so addictive and great for my evening play list. Argh. Yeah. It’s not new but they redid it live on the Wish bus. Man can they sing! I guess he would be in his late thirties if this was 20 years ago. Holy heck!

yeah, this is a cover. this song is originally composed and sang South Border back in the 90s. South Border' songs are mostly R&B that most of it became classic and/or official sound tracks for tv drama series. they had changed main vocals for the last 20 years, i believe, but they try to have the voice as close to the original main vocalist as much as possible.

Michael Pangilinan's original song Bakit Ba Ikaw is one of the top (if not the number 1) song in the Wish Bus with the most views. Him and Morissette are the King and Queen of Wish Bus 😊. South Border is a well-loved band here in the Philippines. Even if they dont have any new material in the current decade their songs are still played consistently. Jake Durias is a prolific songwriter/music arranger. He has several hits under his name. The guys here with Michael are friends of his. They do livestreams singing requests from fans (with the guy in guitars and Ryssi-the girl). Khel (Michael's nickname) is part of the trio BuDaKhel composed of Bugoy Drilon, Daryl Ong and himself. They are all solo artists who love to sing together and do covers regularly. They always feature female artists too, particularly Katrina Velarde. Also collaborated with Morissette. That guitarist is very skilled. He loves More Than Words by Extremes as well. They have an impromptu cover of it (Budakhel and the guitar guy).

It probably sounds familiar, because it reminds me of The Tony Rich Project's song, "Nobody Knows". At least that's what it reminds me of. I love this version, but also like the original by South Border too. It has that '90s R&B bass line to it. Jay Durias of South Border is, in fact, one of the co-producers of SB19's song "MAPA," alongside Pablo and Simon Servida. I had the chance to witness them, SB19 and Sir Jay Durias, perform it during SB19’s WYAT Homecoming Concert last December, which was a significant check off my bucket list as an OPM supporter 🤗. Michael Pangilinan also has his own song, "Bakit Ba Ikaw," which SB19 covered a few years ago. Both versions were exceptional!

The Philippines has the best singing talent on the planet. Just a simple fact. The 3 Queens of the Ph are truly something else. Morrissette Amon, Katrina Valarde, and Gigi de Lana are really at the top of the game this generation. The Avengers of the Ph, which includes Michael Pangilinan here is also very impressive. Some time, they get Katrina to join as well. Give these 6 people some love and your channel will be fine.
