You need to time the blocks to hit the blasters back at it. But you can avoid killing it and rack up points on droids to get max rank, that let you get health, combo and Force power upgrades. Also there's a place in first level where there are two 1ups between checkpoints, so getting both then yeeting yourself into a bottomless pit let you hoard a bit of lives.

Oh it was great! Author needs to make a part with missed Star Wars games from the era... let me see, people mentioned Pit Droids game, there's a PC desktop app Yoda Stories, Gungan Frontier, and a bunch of other strategies... Also Jedi Knight games kept being made, and they gradually introduced prequel content like dual sabers in Academy. I think a video with PC games specifically might get those together as well as KOTOR, as it absolutely codified stuff like force power hierarchy, saber colors and crystal lore, Jedi classes and expanded on Phantom Menace's mind trick system where you have a separate non-force persuade skill as well and they act differently.

For the teen Anakin returning to racing... he actually did that while on a Jedi mission. Just like Obi-Wan had a pre-Episode 1 series following his adventures as Qui-Gon's apprentice called Jedi Apprentice, there was another book series set between Episodes 1 and 2 called Jedi Quest following Anakin as Obi-Wan's apprentice. Fun fact, this is referenced in the beginning of Attack of the Clones when they're taking the elevator up to meet Padme and they referenced falling into a nest of Gundarks. That happened in one of the books. All that to say that on one mission, IIRC, Anakin got separated from Obi-Wan and captured and forced (?) into a race. The person was the one who bought his pod after his Boonta race in TPM so he got to pilot his same podracer. But now that he had some training in the Force he was even better at racing.

1:33 in-universe, podracing was indeed an intergalactic sport, the then-canon Star Wars: Republic comic portrayed Sebulba racing the Vinta Harvest Classic using his new podracer (formerly Anakin's). Then it got cracked down by the Empire following the Declaration of a New Order, but it still found a way to survive as the sport was still around by the time of the Legacy comics. In the current canon, it got outlawed by the New Republic (less stringently as the Empire did on Legends) but still thrived on the fringe.

Not just cover, he had slightly different shade of blue ingame. On Dreamcast, the unfinished conehead character had purple saber instead (he reused other people's attacks but had unique combos). Adi Gallia also uses red saber while in official lore she has something more boring, so does Plo Koon, yellow saber was THE thing everyone wanted. What impressed me the most was choreography in Jedi Power Battles: it was made before episodes 2 and 3 and those movies have Plo and Mace do EXACT same moves as ingame animations with unique style. Also PS1 really lacked coop beatemups so this was a mainstay.

I've....actually played every single one of these games except for Obi-Wan, simply because I had no Xbox I still have Battle for Naboo for the N64 and both N64 and Switch versions of Racer. Racer Revenge I have on PSN but everything else was either a rental or demo I think the most fascinating thing about Battle for Naboo among all the other things it does is that to my knowledge, it's one of the first, if not one of the only narrative-driven Star Wars games that take place on just one planet and never goes anywhere else. It could have been so easy to have Gavin and his team just travel to other planets and just make the levels those, but they keep the game strictly on Naboo to the point where the devs had to fill in and create whole new environments where you explore nearly every region of just one planet and still make it visually interesting and diverse. Farmlands, swamps, canyon ranges, icy areas and ruins. I've not seen a Star Wars game before or since that's done that. The only time you ever leave Naboo airspace is for a bonus mission on Coruscant where you have to chase down Maul in his Infiltrator, which is also unlockable

Jedi Power Battles was surprisingly difficult, reminded me of Castlevania 3 in terms of difficulty

When I got my PS2 for Christmas in 2002, the one game I got with it was Racer Revenge, and that was the only game I had for the entire next year. I don’t even know how many times I’ve played it through. When it came out again on PlayStation 4, I got it immediately. And after almost 20 years, I still have every single track perfectly memorized. I will also definitely be playing it with my kids when they can

I guess I suffer from Mandela effect because I really though that you already made Episode 1 tie in games video. Must be from all those lego games and seperate power battles videos.

Battle for Naboo is so underrated! Grew up on that one and Pod Racer! We had a Pod Racer arcade machine at our local AMC Theatre!

Star Wars: Starfighter was both the first video game I played and the first introduction to Star Wars I had, so seeing that it's not forgotten is awesome.

the pod racer game also had an arcade machine with real pod racer controls which was pretty awesome

There's at least one more, there was a planet simulation game where you have to play as either Queen amidala or Qui-Gon and boss nass makes you settle some new planet for them or something, you have to like add plants and animals and keep the ecosystem in balance. Lol I loved it as a kid though.

I’ve been wanting to play the Obiwan Xbox game for a while now. I’m not expecting anything amazing, it’s just so elusive being one of the few OG Xbox games that was never made backwards compatible and I think it looks interesting

Its almost as if pc emulators exist that can play any game ever created for free….
@rynobehnke8289 Жыл бұрын
@@cu1tc1assic I mean if you want to stay legal will this however not be easy. The XBox has a weird disk drive leading to DVD's for it to not be readable on a regular DVD Drive. Additionally will getting a legal copy of an XBox Bios be not easy ether... All of this is assuming you want to be legal about it.

@@cu1tc1assic I love when people like you use this as some “gotcha”. Get it through your head that most console gamers will not switch to PC, the constant sales pitch is obnoxious

@c1ltc1assic I can get the same unofficial emulator on my Xbox. So much for your evangelism.

Episode 1 Racer is the most playable of these today especially the new Xbox release which is fantastic. I'd love to see a remaster of some of the others like Starfighter which had wonderful potential.

I grew up with the original Episode 1 Racer game on N64, but after playing Racer Revenge, I think it's my favorite! I just wish the framerate was a little more consistent on actual hardware.

I feel like the Obi-wan game would've been a lot better if it had just focused on the Crime Syndicate plot and didn't tie into The Phantom Menace. It would've made the game more unique and less of a rehash of what came before it. That being said, I still have a soft spot for this game. The controls were super wacky but really fun, and the level design was pretty cool.

I think "And whatever you do, don't fall into the ketchup" is probably one of the best jokes you've made, just because of how well you delivered the line. 🤣

Racer Arcade also came out in the arcade and I believe was different to the PC/DC/N64 released Episode 1: Racer. Rogue Squadron had a cheat code for a naboo starfighter and the game came out six months before that ship was ever revealed/announced in the movie. Not a tie in of course - just a cool little bit of trivia

There is an amusement park with an arcade hall here, in which there is a star wars pod racing game from the Episode 1 era. It has been there since forever. It is pretty cool as you can be four players racing off.
