This is such an old comment, but I think in that moment Erik just wanted to profess his love to her. He had her in his arms at the height of this song, and perhaps, just perhaps, he thought that she would accept him. His version of "All I Ask of You" has a more pleading tone than Raoul's because his love is not reciprocated. "Say you want me with you here, beside you..." Raoul never sings this line but Erik does because its his way of pleading for her love. It's like saying, "Please accept me. I want to hear it directly from you that you accept me. It matters not that all the hate in the world is directed to me as long as you alone accept me." and now. i will wallow in misery.
