As a young white kid growing up in the rougher, predominantly black area of Indianapolis in the 1980's, I was exposed to this culture and what they called "jonin' " on one another (typically "yo' mamma" snaps), often times as a small gathering. At first, I was kinda' shocked that they would say things like this to me or to one another, but I began to appreciate the thought and creativity that went into some of their snaps, and became quite adept at such insults myself eventually. These little sessions would become the highlight of my day, and I still cherish the memories from them.

Hip-Hop was at a crossroads in 1992. They could have gone down the Pharcyde path; instead, they went down the Snoop Dogg path. Class has been long-since removed from that art form, but at least we have recordings like this for posterity.
