Phil Hellmuth's book about how to play poker and the art of it seems elementary at first glance but the way he brings up different theories ,including Huckleberry Finn's "fire up the game" theory (although it applies to limit hold'em) and playing against different personalities ,using animals to relate to different styles, is actually incredibly insightful. I was a winning player before reading his book but the most important idea that he conveys is to "(guess) your opponents exact hand". It took me about two years of solid play before I could tell multiple people exactly what they were holding in a said hand. At the time I could narrow peoples' hands but I became so good that I could read exactly what most people were holding after just keeping that concept in my head. The first time that I did that was when I was called a "lucky idiot" so I told the three people in the hand with me exactly what they had on the turn and it astonished them. Make no mistake about it, Phil Hellmuth's skills are uncanny.

Bomb ass interview, couldn’t help but watch the whole thing. PH is a Legend. He deserves way more respect from poker elite but they don’t because their pride gets in the way. Brady, Jordan...they all have big egos so who cares. They have all earned it. Phil shows vast growth and humility speaking on his conscience and insecurities of being likeable, etc. Always liked the guy myself and this interview proves his range in the business world as well. Great job Adam.

I never thought id ever see this crossover Edit: Phil is one of the best for sure. He’s very successful in big field tournaments with lots of recs and average players. When it comes to massive top 30-40 players, he doesn’t win like he would at a 5k Bellagio tourney. He’s one of the best ever for sure. Ivey to me is the GOAT. He was the biggest online winner ever, great at cash, and great at tourneys. When Ivey wants to play in tourneys and focus, he’s top tier Did phil say no one has folded aj to aq? Huh?
@seankiesling20542 жыл бұрын
With the AJ vs AQ hand. He's talking about nobody has ever folded A-J suited to AQ in a heads up match to ONE bet pre flop and be right. Especially at those levels where people mix up there play and game all the time and every other hand. He's right though...It's unheard of and almost insane to think AJ suited folded to ONE bet pre flop (and be right) heads up. Idk if I've ever seen AJ suited fold pre flop heads up to one bet where that one bet wasn't an all in or a huge percentage of their stack. Heads up you're typically supposed to be calling with ALMOST any two cards... its heads up! Lol. But the fact that he did fold it heads up, to one bet, and it be right was crazy. He recognized the bet pattern was weird, out of character of DNegs. It was a crazy fold that when I think about I never have seen someone fold that hand, again, to one bet and heads up. He just noticed something in DNegs bet with recollection in past bets and made a read and laid it down. It was a sick fold But yes, people lay down AJ to AQ everyday in a full ring 9 handed game post flop when the pre flop action goes down and a flop comes Q hi or something but that's not what happened here. Hope that gives some insight as to what he meant
