My favorite QB. He belongs in the HOF, for sure. A truly great Giant.

Phil Simms stats vs. the 23 QBs in the Pro Football HOF So, Phil Simms isn't worthy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame? See how his career regular season numbers stack up against some of the QBs who are already enshrined. Completions: 2,576 More than 13 of the 23 HOF QBs: Blanda, Dawson, Namath, Tittle, Van Brocklin, Jurgensen, Bradshaw, Graham, Griese, Layne, Waterfield, Staubach and Starr. Yards: 33,462 More than 15 of the 23 HOF QBs: Blanda, Dawson, Namath, Tittle, Van Brocklin, Jurgensen, Aikman, Bradshaw, Graham, Griese, Layne, Young, Waterfield, Staubach and Starr. Touchdowns: 199 More than 9 of the 23 HOF QBs: Namath, Van Brocklin, Aikman, Graham, Griese, Layne, Waterfield, Staubach and Starr. Interceptions: 157 Less than 16 of the 23 HOF QBs: Blanda, Dawson, Fouts, Unitas, Namath, Moon, Tarkenton, Tittle, Kelly, Van Brocklin, Marino, Jurgensen, Bradshaw, Griese, Elway and Layne. Rating: 78.5 Higher than 9 of the 23 HOF QBs: Blanda, Unitas, Namath, Tittle, Van Brocklin, Bradshaw, Griese, Layne and Waterfield. He played his best game in the the biggest game of his career winning the SB MVP. He also played the best statistical game ever by a QB in the Super Bowl, going 22/25 (and two of the three incompletions were drops). He also won 10 games in the 1990 SB season. Simms has two SB rings -- one of which he's directly responsible for, and the other he's responsible for 10 wins. AND he has better numbers than a lot of HOFers -- while doing it on a run-first team, where the best (only pro-bowl) receiver he ever had was a TE. If some of these other guys above are in the HOF, I don't see how Simms isn't.

He's not, hall of fame caliber, now go cry in your beer because he's not getting in.

The td to int ratio kills it for him rich Gannon has a better case and he was a back up for most of his career but was an mvp and put up some monster numbers as a starter

If he had a better td:int ratio he would be hof

@@Yeomannn nameth had more interceptions than touchdowns. Bradshaw had 212 touchdowns and 210 interceptions. So what's your point?

Till this day , STILL has the Highest Completion % of ANY QB in Superbowl History !!! 22 of 25 Completions in the 1986 Superbowl against the Denver Broncos !

I remember when he was drafted. The sports page headline of the NY Daily News read ,"Phil who from where"? He showed them, in spades.

I loved my Giants being from New York and all ! I think words that summed up Phil was HEART ❤️ !! As many times he was blasted in the pocket early in his career . I really didn’t think he was going to make it !! But he hung in there ! Has deserved those Super Bowls !!!👍👍👌👌

What can I say? This was an absolute treat watching this tribute to the most accurate and toughest quarterback in Giants history. He is my favorite all time Giants player. When he retired so did I. I couldn't watch the games anymore without seeing Phil behind center leading his team. Great memories from a great era in Giants football.

Huge Giants and Phil Simms fan here. He was a tough guy for sure, but the real story of that era was the defense. Phil didn't need to be great to be great.

Giants fans totally gave up on him in the beginning. I never did. So upset when Brunner was made starter over Phil. I never took down my Sports Illustrated poster of him. I knew hed come through and man did he ever. Between the injuries, the benchings and the Giants disrespecting him again with 10 wins in his last season, not resigning him and letting him go to start Dave Brown??? He would have gotten in the HOF no doubt. He still may but i think the things id mentioned prior will unfortunately keep him out. Best GIANT QB Ive ever seen. A little better than Eli

If he was healthy for and won Super bowl XXV he is a hall of famer! Still is in my opinion in that he was one of the dominant QBs in the 80s!

What a great video! Thanks! I am from Argentina and lived in LA when I was 7... and Phill was my hero back then...when the Giants won the SB in 90, I remember how sad I felt he wasn’t starting because he had a great season until the injury..like one his best ever..anyway... beautiful soundtracks too... I am very grateful it brings me a lot of joy and great memories..peace and God Speed

Eli Manning may have set all the Giants quarterback records but Phil Simms displayed a team leadership that can't be measured in stats.
@GiantTributes869017 күн бұрын
Correct! Manning wouldn’t have been able to do what he did in the 1980s or 1990s numbers wise and Simms would have been even better if he played in the 2000s!

I remember the Monday night game against the 49ers at Candlestick Park in 1986.SF led 17 -0 at the half and Phil threw three 3rd qtr td passes to give the Giants a 21 -17 lead and the defense held the Niners scoreless in the 2nd half. And then the Giants mauled them at the Meadowlands 49-3 in the divisional round a month later

Love you forever Phil! An All Time Great Giant. Thanks for all of the wins and the two Championships. You were as much a part of the 1990 win as anyone. You got us close. Your team pushed it over the line.
