The Philippine Commonwealth 1935-1940

Tama Lang ang pagkakatatag ng Philippine Commonwealth na bilang hakbang sa tunay na kasarinlan ng Pilipinas sapagkat nakatulong ito ng malaki hindi lang sa pagiging handa para sa sariling kasarinlan naging gabay rin ito, at dahil dto ay napagtibay ang hukbo at pambansang depensa. Nakontrol din ang ekonomiya ng bansa at napagtibay ang demokratikong intitusyon at naging malaking tulonh sa edukasyon, transportasyon at iba pa. Gayunpaman naging mahirap man ito sa mga magsasaka hindi ito tumigil at sa bagong tinayong republika ng Commonwealth unti unting bumangon ang Pilipinas ng mag isa at may sariling pagkakakilanlan. Dahil dito ay nakatayo ang bansa sa kahirapan at nakita ang bagong kinabukasan, na hanggang ngayon ay dala dala natin. Marahil kung Hindi nabuo ang republika ng Commonwealth Hindi parin magiging isang independent nation ang ating bansa at mananatili tayong umaasa sa iba at walang sariling kasarinlan.

What about the Instruction of President William McKinley to the Second Commission on April 7, 1900; the Philippine Bill of July 1, 1902; and the Jones Law of August 26, 1916? When did it started and does it belong to 1935 Constitution?

The original 1935 Constitution ay unicameral na National Assemly ang legislature. The Assemblymen's term of office ay 3 years. Ang presidente naman and VP ay 6 years ang term pero one term lang ang presidente hindi pwedeng ma-reelect. Ang SONA ay ginaganap every 4th Monday of January. On June 18, 1940, the 1935 Constitution was amended. Ang term ng presidente at VP ay ginawang 4 years pero pwedeng ma-reelect ng isang beses ang presidente, so total of 8 years. The National Assembly was renamed as House of Representatives and the Assemblymen were then called as Congressmen or Representatives. Their term of office ay ginawang 4 years. Kasama sa amendment ang pagbabalik ng Senado, pero ang election ng Senators ay nationwide na, hindi kagaya sa Jones Law of 1916 na ang mga senador ay ibinoboto per Senatorial District. The first election for the 24 senators under the amended version of the 1935 Constitution ay naganap nuong November 11, 1941 kasabay ng election ng presidente, VP and congressmen. The first 8 senators who obtained the highest number of votes shall serve for 6 years (until December 30, 1947), the second 8 senators who obtained the highest number shall serve for 4 years (until December 30, 1945), and the third 8 senators who obtained the highest number shall serve for 2 years (until December 30, 1943). This means that beginning 1943 and every 2 years thereafter we shall elect 8 senators whose term shall be 6 years. Kasabay sana ng election ng 8 senators on November 9, 1943 ang mga local government officials such as mayors and governors; kaso biglang sumiklab ang WW2. Ang term of office ng mga local government officials during that time ay ginawa ding 4 years from 3 years; so bale pare-parehong 4 years ang term ng presidente, VP, congressmen and local government officials; tanging senators lang ang naiiba ang term which is 6 years. Si President Quezon na-reelect cia during the November 11, 1941 elections pero since he was first elected as president in 1935, he shall only serve until 1943, from there ipapasa na nya sa VP ang pagiging presidente. Hindi nya pwedeng i-serve ang buong term na 4 years (1941-1945) kase lalampas ng 8 years ang total. Eh kaso lahat ng plano nabalewala kase sumiklab ang WW2. Yung term of office ng mga elected officials natin napurnada lahat during that time.
