Have to say, it's neat to see a mod that's designed to accommodate less experienced players, and starts off fairly simple before gradually ramping up in complexity. A lot of mods and fan games seem to be designed almost solely for experienced players and speedrunners, with a difficulty curve closer to a brick wall than anything else. Seems like a lot of creators underestimate their own skills at the base game, and end up designing something significantly trickier/less accessible than the original title, no matter how much they attempt to do otherwise. So it's good to see the early levels are kept simple in their layout, the early bosses are designed to be equally simple, and the game is pretty good at hinting where to go and what to do here.

I absolutely loved the video. Honestly, I NEVER see people go into what led them to create levels like this in the Mario 64/Sunshine fandom. I don't usually see a lot of philosophy's being shared about what led them to make what they do, so...this was actually pretty refreshing. I honestly enjoyed every second of it. My favorite visual thing was seeing the night version of Dolpic Town. It looks so relaxing and chill, and honestly, I genuinely loved it!! My ONLY critique of Dolpic town is...15:04...Nico kinda looks a little...strange. Her body seems very...cube-like. I dunno if that was intentional or not, but her model does seem a bit...off. Aside from that, though, I LOVED listening to the video. It was honestly kinda relaxing, and I enjoyed all of it. I can't wait to see the final product for 2001!!

This is actually looking really amazing. I love how it's simpler than the base game of Sunshine, but it still retains some form of complexity which is really nice!! Very excited for the full release! :D

Just finished watching the video. That was truly insightful. I like how you mentioned the importance of establishing a connection between the player and the mission. Especially how the first boss is designed & intended for new players, while also speedrunners are free to play with, and regardless you can play from start to finish and replay endlessly. Truly a passionate video made by a passionate lover of Super Mario Sunshine, who clearly knows what they're talking about regarding game design. As a kid, I remember watching videos of the Spaceworld 2001 trailer, reading comments, and speculating what the game must have been like before what it eventually became in 2002. This entire project is quite literally a dream from my childhood, brought to life. I like what you're doing here, and am super excited to experience this for myself when you finally manage to release it.

Wow I already admired it but I didn't fully consciously notice every little detail in the textures and everything. You've really been capturing the hot fever dream feel gamecube footage from before the console's release has. Also it's super cool to actually see things like the unused goal animation and Nico's dialogue in an actual game and not just isolated on tcrf.

this is pretty good! i have some suggestions if it helps. 1. i think using the clay model of early isle delfino will definitely help when it comes to mapping out the rest of the island. 2. (personal opinion) i think the building with all the piantas in front of it would be better if the ticket station went there instead, making it a subway station for mario to go to and having a pianta be the one selling tickets to mario!

I think that it would be cool if you added in a percentage meter to represent how much graffiti Mario has to clean up in the level in order to make the boss door in each level to open up.

1:20 That sign is in italian, is the Dolpic Island supposed to be located in Italy?
@PortableProductionsАй бұрын
sunshine uses a mix of italian and their own custom language, kept that theme consistent

@PortableProductions I've also noticed the welcome signs are also in Italian, which really give you the feeling of being in an Italian like town.

20:32 dont need to bring platform dow can probably just make the tree climbable tbh
@PortableProductionsАй бұрын
that is a good point lol that feels kinda half measured though, cause then id need to apply some specific communication that tells you that you can climb trees, guess I could tho
