I will never understand that Fujinon 200/2 and why it is priced that high. This is not the camera brand that can wing that smug deluxe price tag look, yet they slapped one on this lens and I am sure it does not sell very well. Half the price and I think they'd make a killing on it. It costs $8299AUD here and a sale price puts it to $6849, still absolutely prohibitive and ridiculously overpriced. Even if I saw one for $4000AUD I'd be struggling to justify it...

Yeah I can’t imagine they’ve sold a lot of them 😅 It’s frustrating because from all accounts it’s a great lens, and I suppose it is roughly competitive with 300mm f/2.8 full frame lenses, but if it was about £1k cheaper it’d probably sell a lot more. I’m curious to see if Sigma bring their new 500mm f/5.6 to X mount - that could be a winner!

Sony 300mm f2.8 $6000 Nikon 300mm f2.8 $5500 Fujifilm 200mm f2 + 1.4 TC $5000 Considering the Sony and Nikon are one stop slower but all with equivalent depth of field and the Fujifilm comes with 1.4 TC it isn’t a terrible deal. What Fujifilm SHOULD do is launch a 350mm f2.8 with integrated 1.4 TC with the next release of a X-H camera body with improved AF.

@@jessejayphotography That'd be a fun lens. I'd like to see Fujifilm pushing a bit more towards the wildlife market over time - it's a good system for it and the AF is pretty workable, if a little awkward sometimes.
