The demonstrator version of this really showcases the ink it is filled with. Mine is filled with a shimmer ink, and other shimmer inks will likely take turns in there after. Makes a great fidget toy too.

I just received the transparent model. I think I'm going to dedicate it to Bay State Blue just because it's such a pretty ink. I sincerely hope mine writes as well as yours.

Moonman nibs are usually pretty good. Not great, but mine have treated me well. (At least the #6 sized ones, not so much with #5 ones.)

Definitely inspired by the Japanese pens made for arthritic hands. (I've seen some that Tombow and Pilot made.) Biggest differences are the nib is more traditional looking on the Moonman (the Japanese ones, the nib is almost cartoonish), and the Moonman is an eyedropper filler, not cartridge. I don't have any Moonman pens, yet, but this is making me consider rectifying that. Thanks for sharing this and God bless!

Yes, a commenter on my photo of this pen pointed out it's almost identical to the Tombow egg pen of the 1990's. I originally had that in the video, but I think it was in a section I cut because of an equipment problem. I forgot to mention it again in the retake.

Great review! I ordered the tortoise color and use it at least several times a week for work. Slight burping issue out of the box but a little grease fixed it

For me, a huge pro is, by far, the fact that you can replace the nib into a GLASS NIB...😍 Such a cool feature. Hopefully, their glass nib would be less scratchy than all those cheap ones. Mine is already in my shopping cart (I haven't decided if I prefer the clear one or the chocolate brown one... They are both so beautiful in their own way...🤔💕 Thanks for your in depth review!

I have the Brown and the Transparent one of these pickles. Did not think that I would be enjoying them as much as I do. The brown had a dry and awful F nib, that I swapped for a WingSung M. The transparent has a surprisingly great EF, that I find using quite frequently. There is something truly enjoyable about them. I have gotten used to using them unposted (though posted is fine too). The back of the barrel nests comfortably in the nook of my hand. I got the brown initially as a way to experience the novelty of the hard to find Tombow Egg. I am really in a pickle with the transparent; who would've thought! 😉

I love the quirky design of this pen but can't see myself using it on a daily or occasional use. It might be fun to have in a collection but it's not on my list for a must have yet. Thanks for the review James.

I was shocked by how comfortable this pen is to hold, and how nicely smooth the nib is. I filled it with Sheaffer Renegade Blue, and we’ll see how long it lasts! I have the demonstrator.

I have that same pen, and I can't get the cap to post properly and stay because of the curved shape of the body. Other than that, I would say it's about as dry, and a similar feel to writing with a Platinum Preppy, or Curidas. I also have the black and clear in this one, and while the clear one looks interesting with ink in it, the black is roughly like this one.

This looks interesting but I'd have preferred it if the barrel was made from the same material as the cap. From this video it appears your barrel is a fairly flat monochrome design and, to my eye, this makes it look like a frankenpen (not that frankenpens are a bad thing). The cap looks like it has been transplanted from a different pen. On the plus side, the girthiness looks intriguing. It seems like a fairly light pen but sometimes you can get away with that if it has some chunkiness. It seems like that sharply tapering section may actually help a lot with ergonomics and grip.

I got one in transparent. It never occurred to me that it looked like a pickle. Actually, I was surprised by a couple of things. I was surprised at how honest-to-gosh FAT it is! I guess I was figuring it would be more of a "cigar-shaped" version of the Wancai Mini, instead of a pointed top finial. I was also surprised to see that it had an EF #6 nib. I've had other Moonman pens with #6 nibs that I bought from vendors who offered them in EF, but they (almost) always specified that the EF nibs were "not original" Moonman nibs. (The last couple I got, they had replaced them with Kaigelu #6 EF nibs, like on my Moonman 600.) Unfortunately, the one I got seems like it may be a bit of a lemon. I have to really push to get the cap posted, and then the least bit of sideways pressure against the web between my thumb and forefinger, and it just pops right off. It just doesn't want to stay posted for me. Not at all like yours. I have mentioned this to a couple of other people who have them, and they report no problems getting them to stay posted, so maybe I just got a dud. Oh, well. It's still a Moonman, and the nib is as great as the #5 Moonman EF nibs!

Mostly had issues with their number five nibs. Has to floss some quite a bit to get them to write well enough, but with their number six fine never had any issues. Although it is more of a fine-medium in reality.

That is quite a chubby pen! Like that it's an eyedropper, even taking the thick wall in account looks like it takes quite some ink. Looked at the clear version, very reasonably priced, pity that shipping and import fee costs to my country more than double that price...😳

The demonstrator really demonstrates the ink it is loaded with. Plus you can see the quality of the construction, as the all clear resin leaves no place to hide issues with that.

Yes, they are. Majohn (Moonman) makes standard nib units for their #6 nib pens.

Sadly Moonman needs to change name. Kaweco registered name Moonman in Germany and they cant produce pens under this name. The new name is Mojiang.

It looks a lot less comfortable than it is. It is pretty chunky, so with that thickness of resin should withstand the test if time, or pocket or two.

Thanks for the good review but this is not a pen for me. It looks like it has been taken out of a Mickey Mouse cartoon.
