Fascinating conversation and I think I will buy the book. The Pan European Picnic is an extremely fascinating event in an of itself. However, the author presented one of the most balanced, nuanced views of one of the world's most fascinating leaders -- love him or hate him -- Vicktor Orban -- even though it is clear that the author were he a Hungarian voter would not vote for Fidesz and Orban.

If you took a drink every time the guy says "iron curtain" you would be on the floor in the first 10 minutes of this interview. That is a very abstract and propagandistic term popularized by that progressive hero, Winston Churchill, btw. It should be discarded by all serious scholars.

It did exist though. Also he was a progressive.

@ProleCenter Are you...are you using the term literally? Are you a moron or something? Well you are just ignorant then. He supported the People's budget in 1911.

@ProleCenter It was not a literal statement, given that it was used as a political metaphor and he most definitely was a progressive. He helped shepherd through the People's budget in 1911.

@@johnnotrealname8168You keep using that word "progressive" but clearly have no idea what it means.

@MicaiahBaron He supported the people's budget mate, he was a liberal. On racial matters even he was progressive, certainly for his time.

First and only 13 minutes late, it was Ferenc József Ottó Róbert Mária Antal Károly Max Heinrich Sixtus Xaver Felix Renatus Lajos Gaetan Pius Ignác Von Habsburg who organised this I believe. It formalised the end of that gash across Europe and such an unity I reckon did more for those two countries than anything before. To think many still dislike the Habsburgs there. If only they re-united, still there is time.

Yay! The Hapspurgs are back! That's not progress in my book. And I'm sure the CIA was not far behind him.

@josephwaters4815 It was progress. They were skulking a bit yes. Soon however the people willingly came into America's arms.
