Very nice review! But you should know that as you bought an Asian Pico 4 model you got the asian facial interface. Pico has 2 different facial interfaces, one for the asian market and one for the European market.

Have to completely disagree because my Pico 4 fits me perfectly on my head, just like all headsets whether the DVR or FPV goggles it all depends on the shape and size of your head. Also you don't need a 3D printer anymore you can already buy replacement gaskets, however a 3D printer is a useful device

Hey, thanks for your comment. I'm sure the Pico fits many, if not most people just fine. I saw others with my same complaint, which doesn't mean there's a lot of us, of course. I totally agree a third-party interface is much easier and convenient than printing your own. I saw the model available on printables.com, which surprised me, so I leaned into it. Sometimes when making a video it's easy to get into the weeds and I fail to represent the opposing opinion and other options. I sincerely appreciate you bringing those to light.

My problem wasn’t the size but the resistance of the cushion itself. It pressed so firmly against my face that it hurt shortly into playing. Do you know if the international gasket is softer?

For sure. The point was more that the Pico face gasket caused so much pain that, for me at least, it was unusable, and the 3D printer option it just the way I chose to go.

The original face interface. It is not 100% light proof but well enough for my living room. Also I like the combination of standalone games, mostly moving style like Eleven table tennis, and PC VR wich I do via Wifi. So totally wireless in every mode.

It is! The Pico is basically like the Quest in that it can run it’s own apps and games. If you’re in the US then make sure to purchase the international version, where I bought the Chinese one.

Infill was 15%, and layer height was 0.1mm.

Unfortunately, every VR headset requires some kind of privacy data fed to the manufacturer now. You just have to decide whether you want it to be Meta with the Quest 2, or China (i.e., the Chinese Government) with Pico 4.

I think you're right. I don't know what SteamVR and Valve do in this regard. That's something I should look into.

@@KingofNerds Could be wrong, but I don't think Steam has anywhere near the players for Valve Index to support a privacy data clause, verses other headsets. Valve are tight-lipped about everything they do when it comes to hardware and, whilst they may be releasing v3 base stations soon, there's little to suggest they will be making another headset.

I don’t, however things aren’t looking good since they laid off “hundred.” Assuming that’s doesn’t get in the way of the next release, the Pico 4 was just released in October, so I wouldn’t anticipate anything newer than Spring or Fall 2024. Let’s hope they’re not done!

I can't say for certain, so if anyone else knows for sure then please help answer, but I believe Pavlov Shack Beta, Bonelab, and Beat Saber are not available on either the Pico Chinese or international versions. You may connect your Pico 4 to a PC and play the SteamVR equivalent of those games, but I suspect you mean natively. Please let me know if you find otherwise.

@@ZERO1EDITS So I bought the Chinese Pico 4, and I bought it just before the International Pico 4 was available, so I may not have the best info for you other than what I've learned from this device, and what people have said in this thread. That said, I think you'll like it, but as a Quest owner, you'll definitely see some of the same things I found: Warping around the outside of the lenses, the passthrough warps so badly that your hands get huge when close to your face, the interface is basically a copy of the Quest, yet with some Android-like things still in it (which makes you realize how much Meta has removed many of the indicators to the layman that this is Android), and the controllers are just a little funky to hold. You may run into having problems with the face gasket, as mine was stiff, hence this video, but get it first and see what you think. You can either 3D print one like I did in the video, or get the replacement from AMVR, which I understand is nice. You'll have to let me know what you think!

Hello! Since your suggestion of it, I have! It’s definitely a challenge. I remade the light blockers with it and they didn’t feel sturdy enough. I used blue, which wasn’t as opaque as I hoped, which defeated the reason for the blockers. Regardless, I’m glad I tried it!

@@KingofNerds International I assume buddy as I purchased mine from Argos in the UK. What I have heard a lot is pain on the ridge of the nose so might be dependant on people’s nose and face shape. Mine has great air flow you don’t get the hot sweaty face like i do on my quest 2 and that balanced weight is just a lot more comfy I find.

That's a good question, and I'm not 100% sure. I know you can do that with the Quest if you purchase a Quest for Business, but then it costs twice or so the price. ByteDance but have that option, but I'm not aware of it.

There is no need to know what my CPU, GPU, OS or my approximate location when using a device. Anything linked to Bydance is an unsafe thing to use or own!

very much disagree with the face gasket - its sooo much more comfortable than the quest 2 especially over a long period of time, dealing with sweat, and not making face irritated from the materials like the quest 2. i agree the light leaking on the nose is pretty rough but can just use a darker room.... always personal preference i assume, and VR cover definitley provides better materials han the quest 2 default (have it on my cosmos elite) - but yeah, like video, i had used it slightly and then put it aside as a 'meh' becuase of the store and other limitations - then i properly setup virtual desktop and yeah - i dont have any need for my cosmos elite now - quest 2 only for exclusives.

So basically you are barely tightening the headstrap then. And getting like 80FOV and bury vision. If you cranked the tightness up to get the screen in the correct location (so no light leakage at the nose) you will feel how badly designed it is

amvr and bobovr already have the best accessories for it, which took them long enough tbh. skip the amvr hand strap, the face cover is decent. and dont buy them from official website or amazon unless you are doing charity. now it is wearable, it is still barely usable. tethered means you have to use inferior official software SA, even after crazy tweak (3k x 3k, 240 bitrate) it is still hazy compare to VD. left you with the only option. and VD has more latency so you cant really play competitive titles. after half year of pico4, i went back to my Q2 and updated to V50, man the UI alone is just miles better than pico4. pico4 got great piece of hardware here, but the company doesn't seemly care about it anymore.

I agree. The biggest difference is, if rumor is correct, ByteDance is influenced or controlled by the Chinese government, where Meta, although they don't have the best track record, doesn't appear to be so tightly connected to the US government. I suppose time will tell.

That's a definite advantage. How often does the VPN give you trouble when using it for the Quest 2? It's good data to have, as that's an added cost and a pain to setup, where you don't need it with the Pico.
