A great bit of composition at ca 1:21: While Dorian, on the right side of the frame, is composing his cruel letter of reproach to Sibyl Vane, the left side of the frame is dominated by Dorian's imposing canopy bed, which he presumably shared with Ms Vane the night before. Tying the two together is the framed photograph of Sibyl on the table in the foreground. Another example of director Albert Lewin's visually rich and stylized concept of Wilde's novel.

Angela Lansbury was an absolute doll. Just look at her adorable face as she reads the letter. How could anyone not fall in love with a face like that! ❤️

Oh, the long gone Golden Age of Horror...1931 to 1969 respectfully. The sets, costumes, acting and atmosphere have been replaced with gore. One exception: Universal and their Mummy movies. Even Hammer Films is attempting to ressurect the stylish Gothic/Victorian style movies.

This was a great movie that featured a portrait that reflected every evil act of the main character who does not age as the portrait does. In the end the portrait consumes Dorian Gray. If only he had taken a different road in life.

It's better on a Black & white TV 📺 in a dark room. The smaller the tv , the better

He hopes that his beautiful figure will last forever. Any method is no use. It tells us that the most important thing is to grow old properly, but if you think about the ruinus life of the author and his mistress, it's probably not a moral lesson movie. Almost men are ruined by the devil of their own hearts.
