this one doesn't quite trip my fancy to watch, on the surface, but maybe ... i did see and enjoy Fog of War ... the true or real self question is a great one though

You made me look up the trailer, as I'd never heard of it before. But I got a month of apple tv just to check it out. Very fascinating interview, even for someone who's never read le Carre before. It was sad at times, and exciting, and ultimately very touching and introspective, as he's now passed and basically thought of this film as his final movement. Really interesting, and totally worth watching. Thanks for making the introduction.

It's interesting that Errol Morris is still chugging along. I feel like we could use a little more of what he once brought to the screen since it feels like the media is kind of segregating us from worrying about the military industrial complex compared to our hyperfixation on it around the time of the Iraq war.

What do you think of Errol doing a narrative film? A little bird told me that he purchased the option for the book Freezing People is (Not) Easy. The first option was picked up by Mandate Pictures with Errol to direct and Steve Zaillian producing. Zaillian purchased the option from Mandate, and then dropped Errol, choosing to direct it himself. Zaillian sat on it for a decade and did nothing. When the property went back on the market, Errol scooped it up. Errol hired and fired two screenplay writers, which I think is admirable. It means that his standards for the film are very high. Here's a little video that Errol did on the film back when he was with Mandate. Let me know what you think.

Very odd film in which Le Carre's relationships beyond those of his mother and father were almost completely absent. The documentary seemed somehow covert and censored. Maybe that was the intention.
