Birth control is the most annoying and amazing thing humans have created. I feel safer when I’m being intimate with my partner but i get the crazy mood swings, cramps, acne and weight gain which takes a huge mental toll on me. I feel like not many people admit to those things but I’m glad you were open in sharing your experiences so thank you. 💕#vaginaprobs

Alexis Haider so true. ive had Nexplanon and its the best method for me. the shot makes me depressed and the pill just isnt for me. my kids keep me busy im sure i will forget it. But nexplanon didnt give me any side effects except maybe a little weight gain but I couldnt be sure because i work nights and im already 36. Ive had nexplanon since 2012.

Please don't stop doing the talking (what you call "rambling")! I don't feel so alone when you talk about the effect the pill has on you. I thought I was the only one having such intense emotions due to on pill/off pill situation. THANK YOU! It's such a relief knowing I'm in such good company! Good luck hon!

you aren't imagining it - the hormones are highjacking your brain! It's awful. It's the same experience with depression; I'm always wondering which thoughts/feelings are "mine" and which ones are coming from the chemical/hormone imbalance. In addition to your regulare medical care, I encourage you to also look into alternative therapies. I would exhaust every (safe) treatment before giong back on the pill. I don't know much about PCOS myself, but I"m sure you'll get some good feedback from others here. :) Be patient with yourself.

The Pill isn't for everyone, and not every pill is even the same. One version didn't work for me personally, so my doctor recommended a different brand and it was fantastic (I used it for severe cramping, migraines, and clearing up acne which I could not cure otherwise for the life of me). Know your body, respect your body if something doesn't work, and also respect others' choices regarding their bodies 😊

I took yaz years ago and it made me miserable. After about 3 months I had a slight mental breakdown along with a month long period. Yaz made me crazy and I was constantly on the verge of tears. I experienced all of the symptoms you're describing. It's definitely the pill. I'm on my own pcos journey and I flat out refuse going on the pill because of the horrible experience I had with yaz. I love the rambling updates, tbh I'd enjoy anything you decided to post. Love ya babe!

I have never found a pill that works for me (diagnosed at 25 with pcos, now 40). I have a progesterone intolerance in addition to having PCOS, and yaz was a gigantic huge mess for me. I would advise you to start keeping a mood journal on your hormone journey so you can have more insight into what is going on. And just remember, with pcos, there is no one size fits all. Something may work beautifully for one person and be a disaster for another. :)

Had this on Nikki which is the generic for YAZ. It was the worst year of my life. The pill is treated by the medical community as a “savior, the magic pill every woman needs it otherwise you’re defective!” When reality is, THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES AND LONGTERM SIDE EFFECTS! It’s a BIG DEAL. Hormonal birth control changes your body chemistry.

I think it is all the "unknowing" that is affecting your emotions. Not knowing when Grant will get a job, where you will be moving, or will you be moving. Hopefully things will fall into place quickly for you.

I know I'm probably annoying commenting the same thing all the time, but it helped me so I figure I should spread the word lol. I switched to a plant based diet last summer. I was suffering from lethargy, mood swings, missed periods, and just generally not feeling well. I was diagnosed in 2016 with PCOS, but have probably had it for much longer than that. I also suffered from infertility and had a tumultuous pregnancy. I'm telling you, switching my diet has made a world of difference. There are so many hormones pumped into our meat, dairy and eggs and they really take a toll on you if you suffer from a hormone disorder. This is not to say that I never indulge, but for the most part I eat plant based and I feel so much better. At least look into it. There is a lot of information about is benefiting you if you have PCOS. The pill also screwed with my system and I have been able to regulate my cycle eating this way. Hope this helps a little 🙂

I just started the pill (Vienva) two weeks ago for PCOS (monster cysts that have sent me to the ER multiple times). I've been soooooo anxious, but I'm giving myself a chance to adjust. I used Depo Provera for years and I don't remember feeling this wacked out. Also I'm 34 and totally paranoid about blood clots.

I've been on Sprintec for 2 months now and while I've lost weight and my skin is clearing, I'm very hormonal, I get headaches, and all kinds of things, but I'm scared to come off of it because I don't want to bleed like that anymore. Leighann, Yaz was awful for me. I was only on it for 3 weeks. I was a rage monster and was crying constantly. But the worst was when I got off it- I had two panic attacks which I had never had and felt sick for 3 days so just be aware that getting off that pill could be really rough. If you ever decide to try the pill again I got on minastren for the last 4 years and it was SO MUCH BETTER. Someone else had recommended it to me and I made my doctor change it for me. Getting off of it was nothing as well luckily besides some skin issues which disappeared after a few months. Anyways, maybe this helps some and good for you for taking charge of your health!

Your doctor will of course be able to tell you for sure once all your blood work comes in. PCO and PCOS are basically the same thing except PCO mainly effects the female region and reproduction and PCOS effects literally everything. Without revealing too much personal info just know that I understand EVERYTHING you are going through.

But I also wanted to say that no matter what any doctor tells you, you know if something is working for you and your body or not! I honestly love that you take your time to update how you are feeling/ dealing with your PCOS. When you did your life update video in January, I had just been diagnosed with PCOS as well and felt that I wasn't alone with this, so I have to thank you for this. Keep pushing through, we can do this! Love everything you do!

Yeah, I've tried about 8 different pills in the last 2 years lol! It's terrible trying to find what works for you, there are SO many! One was so bad emotionally I was very depressed and contemplating... things... I told my Dr and was switched immediately. Crossing my fingers for the newest stuff, I've had very few symptoms including my mood being very stable!

I was on the pill for 2 months & I had such amazingly awful mood swings! I’d rage then cry, rage then cry... miserable. And it felt like it was something that was happening to someone else, but I was watching it- if that makes any sense. I never took it again, and never looked back. Totally understand what you’re feeling!!

Listen, girl....as a therapist who strives to maintain a positive mental health for her patients (in oncology, my patients are THE BEST)...Yaz made me a raging, psychotic, irrational, nutjob, crazy witch. I turned into someone unrecognizable. I had ZERO patience, ZERO tolerance, I hated EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. I found my mecca...Seasonale. The hormone combo in it was good, and I only get my period every three months. I've talked to SO many women who've said that Yaz has made them turn absolutely CRAZY. I'm just throwing my experience out there. Yaz is known for making good girls, NUTS lol.

Well...I’m 51 and am through menopause...BUT, I want you to know I can SO relate to what you’re experiencing with the pill. You’re doing the right things. Talking to your doctor and listening to your body. You knows what’s best for your body. Find what works for you. Always go to a doctor who will work with you. And, btw, you’re NOT old....and neither am I. The 50s are fantastic!

GURL. Status of my nails: SAME. I love the dip powder but I cannot FUNCTION RN. Except I’m gonna attempt to go take them off myself soooo wish me luck on that. 💁🏼‍♀️💁🏼‍♀️ PS I just started the Nuvaring 3mos ago and I feel amazing. Idk how different it is to what you’re on but if anything, I’m more chill than usual, and it has helped by cramps by a billion. I don’t have PCOS but I used to get debilitating cramps and I don’t anymore. Anyways. ❤️

Hormones are making me crazy as well, sadly I can’t stop because of severe menstruation. I will faint from the pain if I get my period, I will puke for a whole week, it’s horrible. I basically can’t hold a job if I quit hormones.

I couldn't tolerate estrogen based birth control pills, so I've been on a progesterone only "mini-pill" for around 5-6 months now. It doesn't make me feel the same "crazy" feelings regular BC makes me feel. It's slightly less effective than estrogen-based BC and they need to be taken at the same time everyday. I'm primarily on hormonal birth control to help with my super heavy periods and it's been doing it's job as far as that goes. Hope you find something that works for you

Hey, I took Yaz and couldn’t figure out why I was crying all the time because I’m not a big cryer. I had this huge meltdown when my boyfriend spilled my mom’s thanksgiving gravy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve taken several different brands since and been fine. I actually liked the Nuvaring best but it’s expensive! I don’t know if you can use Nuvaring with PCOS. But just wanted to let you know, you’re not alone in the Yaz emotional rollercoaster. Not the pill for me!

Had to stop the video at 12min and comment: IT IS THE PILL! Specially While using Yaz.. it made me crazy, anxious, nauseous, crying for no apparent reason.. sometimes the side effects really makes you crazy! Some people get along just fine, some people don’t and I’m on the team that Yaz made me crazyyyy! Hahaha I’m using Qlaira now but thinking about quitting it too! Good luck sweetie!

GIRL ME TOO!!!! I had to get off the pill because it was increasing symptoms of anxiety and I felt like I was crying all the time. I’m also planning a wedding. Also we are both around the same age and our hormones are changing again with the stupid second puberty. It’s change, it’s everything. You’re not alone. I’ve tried the Nuva Ring, IUD... etc. Hormonal birth control is the devil!!!

Oh girl!! I know what you mean about the pill. I have PCOS and I HATED MYSELF when I was on the pill. I am normally a very nice person, but on the pill I was a witch. I was impatient (I yelled at my pregnant friend who was trying to pick out a roast to pick out any D-- roast! Poor thing almost wen into labor) . I was just mean. I apologized to everyone I knew once I was back to normal.. for being such a witch!!! Lol 😂 seriously I couldn’t control it!

I have the same mood swings! Sometimes I can’t stand myself when I consciously know that I’m getting mad at something or somebody when I really shouldn’t. It doesn’t make any sense and I know it’s the pill 😂 but I can completely relate to what you’re saying. I haven’t stopped taking the pill because I don’t know what to do in regards to birth control... My husband and I are not ready to have kids yet so...

I have PCOS, too, and I've had a great experience with Blisovi Fe. It's low-key and I had NO side effects. That, in combo with Metformin 500 mg once a day, has calmed me and made me chill. The only downside is when I forget to take the pill and/or run out of Metformin. It makes me weepy, overwhelmed, and eat like I'm starving all day.

I never had a pill that worked for me and my PCOS. for the last 9 months I’ve used the NuvaRing, and it has been wonderful. I don’t become a crazy b word, my period is regular and lighter, I don’t have terrible cramps anymore. Pills made me nauseous and crazy. The NuvaRing is the way to go in my opinion.

Omg yes to no more emails!! Come one people! It’s 2018!! I don’t have PCOS but the pill has always made my mood swings totally unmanageable! It’s horrid! Just a tip though, stay away from the mirena! It had the same side effects for me even though I was told multiple times that it wouldn’t. And can I just say how freaking cute Luna-bean is! Getting all excited about bed time! My heart 😍

I'm in the same boat girl. I've only ever been depressed and/or suicidal while on the pill, and it makes my tolerance for irritating things so low. Unfortunately it manages several of my PCOS symptoms and my doc says that an IUD wouldn't suffice. I sincerely hope you find something that works for you!! And thank you for talking about this stuff so openly. P.S. Sudden TBell craving at 3:00.
