I haven’t seen a double elimination on this show in years. I think that as the show has moved to more traditional cable networks like MTV and Paramount Plus, they’re willing to adhere to the established reality competition structure. I think younger viewers don’t realize how groundbreaking it was for RuPaul to do a double elimination. That was simply not done on a reality competition. There was a set order of shows per season and you cast based on that number. It left most of these shows to be somewhat boring and predictable. RuPaul went off script herself and by doing so introduced higher stakes for the contestants and made the show more compelling to watch. That seems to have been put away in favor of double saves which is more acceptable in a reality show competition.
