About Hannes
Olivier Award nominated independent artist Hannes Langolf has choreographed and directed numerous productions for stage and screen, including "HOW ABOUT NOW" (2024, produced by his own production company Moonwalking Bear), “UNRUHE” (for and with the Susanne Linke Dance Company), “DANDELION” (with Ermira Goro for The Onassis Cultural Center in Athens), and “THE FALL” (Supported by Orsolina28 and SkyArts).
​Hannes most recently was Co-Movement Director for the critically acclaimed ”Dear England” (National Theatre London and West End run, Olivier Award nomination for best choreography 2024) and worked with Lena Dunham, choreographing for the movie “Catherine Called Birdy”. He duetted with Akram Khan in “Breathless Puppets”, an animated film produced by Manchester International Festival.
​He is a celebrated creator and educator working for institutions and organisations across the globe, and he was nominated as one of the 100 most influential and innovative people working across Britain's creative industries by The Hospital Club, London.
Throughout his career, Hannes has worked and collaborated with numerous artists and companies in Europe and beyond. These names include William Forsythe, Angelin Preljocaj, Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan, Fabulous Beast and Punchdrunk to name a few.
​In 2007 he first joined DV8 Physical Theatre starting a long-term relationship with the company by forming part of the original cast of the critically acclaimed stage production “To Be Straight With You" (nominated for an Olivier Award). This was followed by “Can We Talk About This?” (2010-2012), and “JOHN” (2013-2015) in which he performed the title role.
​All three productions, conceived and directed by Lloyd Newson, toured internationally and enjoyed sell-out seasons at The National Theatre, London. Hannes became DV8’s Creative Associate in 2014 and continued this role for the much-anticipated re-creation of ”Enter Achilles” in 2019/20 as well as being the production’s Tour Director.
​​In 2022, Hannes founded MOONWALKING BEAR PRODUCTIONS, a home for his creative ideas, a hub for innovation and collaboration, and a launch pad to support new talent.
He was a member of the contemporary teaching faculty of the English National Ballet School (UK), Iwanson International School For Contemporary Dance (GER), and London Contemporary Dance School - The Place (UK). He has been invited to teach at international festivals and schools across four continents.
Hannes is part of a selected collective of 50 international artists from 29 different countries that had the unique opportunity to spend a 10-week intensive period with David Zambrano in Costa Rica in 2010. There, he experienced the philosophies of “Flying-Low” and “Passing Through” which he is since integrating in his own artistic work and teachings.
Hannes is also a certified Yoga teacher and completed his Teacher Training under the watchful eye of Cat Alip-Douglas and Phil Douglas at the renown Sangyé Yoga School in London in 2017.
He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Kerry Nicholls Dance - a pioneering, leading-edge developmental home for creatives, animated by dance.
