ATL is my home airport, and I don't know how I would live without getting to ride this train each month! Thanks for the good video!

kinkisharyocoasters The last time I rode the train for the fun of it, you can stay on at the baggage claim stop (or even get off and back on before the doors close) and you can ride it back up the concourse chain.

The voice was updated march 2012 and also a concourse F and new trains with LED screens with a train map. "T as in Tango" "A as is Alpha" "B as in Bravo" "C as in Charlie" "D as in David" "E as in Echo" "F as in Foxtrot" (In the NATO alphabet, D is actually Delta, but the airport didn't want to confuse travelers with the airline, so they have David instead.)

+Auggie Whitman Taxiway D on the apron in ATL is also called Dixie rather than Delta, which is very appropriate... : )

Auggie Whitman I remember when the trains voice was like a creepy monotone robot voice.

I think they have these at Orlando INTL. Only difference is, it's only a 2-stop system, and the stations don't have windows (solid doors, too).

Why do the announcements sound lower pitched in some of the cars? Do they use a tape drive or what?

Can you please give me a detailed explanation of how the in-vehicle announcements work on the automated people mover?

@Anjasomc Generally, there really aren't any delays with this train. What happened at the end of this video is a deviation from the norm. I'm guessing what happened is a train was delayed farther ahead due to someone blocking the door, etc., and the delay was just rippling through the system. The trains usually have enough of a headway that a short delay doesn't cause any issues, but a longer delay could. In the 15+ years I've traveled out of ATL, I've only seen the train out of service twice.

The reason the train was held after you got off is because the one ahead of you (at concourse C) was being held up by somebody.
@Anjasomc12 жыл бұрын
I can imagine that there would always be delays on that system because you have one train in the station ahead of the next one, so if doors were obstructed or something, all of the other trains would have to wait. And it's funny that someone had climbed all the way down the broken escalator to find that they could not get off at the end!

I love the one at MCO, since it's outside and you can see the planes. It's just like the one at Tampa, though more efficient. I wonder why the doors are opaque? Vandalism shouldn't be a problem since it's in the secure zone. Maybe it's anti-terrorist, though it's possible to see the track looking through the glass at the buffer, seeing the train come up close to you.

The station at the west end (called Domestic baggage claim) is for egress only, right? Once you step on the escalator, you're allowed to posess a weapon if you have a permit, so I think if you're departing, you'll be directed to the next station down the line (Concourse "T) after security. Would it be legal to stay on the train as it runs light after discharging at the terminal?

Those announcements have been since updated...
@bigpboy10129 жыл бұрын
They were actually updated not long after this video (March 2012). Trivia: 1. Despite the on-board audio having been changed 3 times, the 1994 audio is still used on the station platforms. 2. The voice you hear is Susan Bennett, who provides the gate announcements for Delta and, more recognizably, Siri.
