Even though I have been on KZbin for a few years I have never taken time to properly show you my John Deere 7000 4 row planter and Ford 1720 Tractor. I use this planter for planting corn on our wet spots

Its Great to see that you are a Quality enough of a person to Appreciate the sentiment of your Father and Grandfather's Gifts. I always liked the 20 series Ford tractors. I had A Brand New 2120 Ford. With 4x4 shuttle shift and a loader. A Guy offered me a Bunch more than I paid for it so I sold it to him. I've been kicking myself every since. I could have use that soo many times! Fun video! Best Wishes from Montana! M.H.

Just stumbled over this one (again), so much fun to watch old equipment work, especially when it does a work more efficient than a modern piece of equipment. Love to see you being proud of it, and hope to see the little planter this year again. 🙂

Thanks Carson! That is a very cool little setup. All the aspects were interesting! I looked up the 1720. It's a nice, small, utility tractor made until '95. It was fun seeing the marker arms go down in the drone wide-shot. I'd like to see you bring your planter up to modern specs with your knowledge and experience! (maybe with some of someone else's money? haha) MOSTLY, I'm glad you are getting/got seed in the ground! Super enjoyable, thank you again!

Um i assume your beaniemuffs are on your other open cab..... open cab rolling was my summer jobi hated the most, no radio so cd Walkman on repeat(little to early for mp3). Either wrap up and sweet, or get covered in dust and itch. I'm 90% positive it the cause Tinnitus. The worst was when i had to feed out silage in winter, while my uncle and dad used the fix cab i froze. Sadistic family or hasing, cos that how they did it in their day.... We had a couple a of old internationals done up to factory new, One was a triwheel and the other a bulldozer conversion kit , best to never mod an antic. We had old traction engines as well to run chaff cutters for all the horse trainers around, truing $7 bails of alfailfa in to 2 bags of $14 chaff was a no brainier. it was extra work in summer down time but they would all come to help as they would get a discount, actually it was some fun memories. Hauling the BBQ to the field after. But why is the strongest memories of my childhood of getting all the jobs that made me itch. OSH would be very unhappy nowadays with the stuff i did as a kid, wow look at me rambling yer in short antic are best left unmodded. well each to their own tho.

@@6thGenFarmer no, no, no, that one is perfect for a replant unit. Or, even as a main unit on a very small farm. My point is that even farming at scale, the old stuff has its place, but the 72-7300 has a little better bones to build on, being a vacuum planter from the factory. A really good friend of mine who farms in Livingston County IL has a 16 row 7200. It has everything, even delta force. He is a top producer, very consistent 300+ corn, 90+ beans and 100+ wheat. One place the older stuff can fill the void is in Controlled traffic farming. A 1:1 or 3:1 ratio are the best formats to use, I’m on a 2:1 system personally and it’s proven to be a 15% yield bump for us no till guys. I plant 80’ at a time and harvest 40’. He plants 40’ and harvests at 40. Your limited to how wide equipment is made. If your combine can only handle a 6 or 8 row head, a good upgraded older vacuum planter would do a very great job for you.

OLF, Wes Pandy Channel is planting this year, and last for that matter W/ a 12 row 7000. He takes tons of grief in the comments. Things like " get a real planter" & other nasty remarks. However, he had portions of his ground deliver 300 bushel corn last year, with what he readily admits is a 50 year old machine. The difference between his planter & a new exact emerge 1775? , yes that $$ difference goes in the bank. BTW, 1 have a 1620 sitting in the shop, bought new in 1993, looks just like your ford, was not available in green 🤔

One Lonely Farmer Wes Pandy is your man to ask about rebuilding that cylinder. He has a channel here on you tube . Wes has a wealth of knowledge of farming and fixing machines . I've seen him totally rebuild a burned out tractor . Split a tractor in !/2 with an IVT transmission all in a shop that some farmers would not walk into . I'm sure that if you ask him he will walk you thru your rebuild. Andy from Farming Fixing and Fabricating is another person that could tell you how to rebuild that cylinder .
