I think the best way to end a trilogy of overcoming adversity that somehow ends with the 2022 Astros World Series is with Mauricio Dubon. A player who’s a sole representative of their home country in the major leagues, a flashy player who definitely has talent but is seen as error prone, and DFA’d by his favorite team only to end up on a championship winning team and being a good role player. However, his story doesn’t end there, especially with how he also became a Gold Glove winner as a utility player the year after winning the World Series.

Thanks for sharing Hubert's story. Sorry for your loss. Maybe a Jonny Venters video? Pretty sure he had TJ at least 3 times and missed 6 years before returning to MLB.

Watch your content all the time! Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. On 6/4/2022 I had a pregame meet and greet with Trey. We talked on the field for a while about life, his medical issues and comeback. As we parted I gave him the obligatory "Can you hit one out for me today?". Like something out of a movie Trey lauches one out his first at bat. He then made sure to earmark the bat so I would get it. Trey meant so much to Baltimore as a person. He got a standing ovation when he returned with the Astros. From his last game in the park HR to the always present fans with his jersey or shirts he will always be a major part of Baltimore baseball.

I promise you, the JMIW player is EXACTLY the kind of player and thing I love about baseball. Your videos certainly accomplish your goal in my book. I already loved baseball but I finish your videos and immediately start up a new save in OOTP and play around in BR for awhile. Keep up the fantastic work

really cool of you to use Turnstile in the video, as someone from Baltimore it was super cool to see the only thing i wish was in the video was his HRD run in 2021

My best xDAWG candidate is Yolmer Sanchez, from 2017 to 2019, the only red circle on his Savant page being his glove, he put up 7 WAR total across those three seasons. I miss him on the Sox.

I clicked on this video expecting something inspiring and man did you deliver on that and then some. The ability for people to push through adversity is incredible. I totally understand the feelings you displayed when talking about your backstory and other obstacles getting in the way of your true passions, I’m currently in such a rut. I’m in a job that pays well enough but I don’t trust the people around me and no longer find the work anything but boring and on top of that I have a nagging wrist ailment that prevents me from playing my instruments for long stretches of time. But much like you and Doom in your background I need to push through my adversity and be that dawg that has the fire. Thank you for a beautiful and inspiring story.

hey man, you sharing your story and hubert’s, what drives you, and your ability to be vulnerable really create inspiration. I can relate to the story of losing a close friend - and immense creative - at a time too soon for them to go. Another example of a guy like Mancini in Colin Rea on the Brewers. Rea went to Japan and posted a relatively pedestrian ERA, just enough to get him a contract back with the Brewers. Now he’s the 2nd best starter by ERA in a rotation looking to win the NL Central and make a deep playoff run.

Nice little clip of alien ant farm. Easily one of the most underrated bands of the 2000’s. And throwing in turnstile in a video about my favorite team and favorite player? You’ve earned my sub good sir. I miss Trey in birdland. Love where our team is finally at. After years of mediocrity, we’re competitive, and I wish boom boom was there to be a part of it. Glad he got his ring in Houston though. I hope he makes it back to the show.

Here's hoping you can make this work. I go through baseball video-watching peaks and valleys and I have really enjoyed yours. I have always been more into the positive, softer-spoken human interest stories in sports and I think baseball has an above-average number of them just given the reach and nature of the sport. Glad to stick around and here you tell some of 'em.

hey, this video is really cool. i really like that youre coming at things from a personal storytelling perspective. imo the coolest thing abt sports is how it uses systems, stats, and sheer human desire to tell stories, and i think you capture that really well. i think its all well and good that people talk about the greats, but i really love it when ppl talk about their favorite weird/"middling"/whatever athletes, those stories are under represented and i love seeing it. hubert sounds like they were a beautiful person, so thanks for letting us all know that. also dope 12 rods poster dope band. also also cool that yr using another camera thats fun. baseball youtube film making revolution incoming.
