What? Sony made a PS2 TV? A television with a built in Playstation? Yes, that's right, following in the footsteps of the SNES, NES and even Dreamcast televisions, we have a Sony Bravia LCD TV, with a Playstation 2 slapped onto it's base. Otherwise known as the KDL-22PX300 I thought it was time to take a closer look at this UK exclusive. Internally it's wired up with component connections, so we can also enjoy some HDMI like resolutions. What great times.

I don't know how to direct message somebody on KZbin so hopefully this will reach you.add little 8-bit graphic of Indiana Jones running from villagers here carrying something large and strange looking. i found something weird old Brown heavy and eBay has failed me! Cording to eBay it doesn't exist. a Techtran ndustries inc 950 micro disc .referring to this unit as a micro disc is laughable the thing is the size of a breadbox and I can barely lift it. It's a floppy disk drive that much I do know it has switches all over it one on the front three more on the back and a rotary dial switch apparently it was made in the USA I'm looking at I'd say roughly the 1970s given its design you could literally bludgeon somebody to death with this thing with no problem and do Avelino damage to it. I'm looking for some information on the unit to better allow me to list it on eBay kind of what I do is selling vintage technology anything from record players computers radios videogame systems basically if it's electrical and old I've probably listed one on eBay more commonly I end up with weird computer stuff but I've never come across anything that I could easy list and identify. I've got a bizarre little portable television/VCR LCD briefcase unit that I've been meaning to bring to your attention that might be of interest given the kind of videos that you do. If you can imagine something the size of a briefcase with the words LCD on it and it's a VCR with a flip up screen that is barely able to be lifted. Again that unit is from the mid-80s so it makes me question how it's LCD on a top load VCR lol.if you can help me out with listing this disk drive that would be appreciated maybe you know somebody that can use it more or less it looks to be an old 8088 disk drive for a IBM mounted in a July Norma's case but I want to make sure I list it properly. You'd be surprised how many times I've help somebody track down some piece of weird hardware from the 1970s that were over in Germany or something like that restoring some old machine. Thank you for your time.

Great video! I'm always fascinated by stuff like this. The PS2 came out a month before I was born. I have one of the fat models that I was able to get off a con artist by trading him an smartphone lying around the house. Currently in the middle of Final Fantasy 10 and Kingdom Hearts. Both great series! Keep up the good work! I enjoy the content epically since I'm an America who enjoys looking at the British perspective of gaming! It just fascinates me!

A 4K 60 inch Sony Bravia and it even came with a pair of PS4 pads... unfortunately I was duped and its an Android TV with a nVidia shield type spec and access to the PSN store... not bad, but not exactly the same fuzzy warmth you would get from this bad boy! I'd like to see Sony make a PS2 console, with a HDMI output and up-scaling, several built-in games and the option to play disks from the PS1 and PS2, a memory card slot, and a hard-drive to save the games and install them for faster load times. If Sega can allow the MegaDrive to be re-released over and over again (with a degree of success), I don't see why Sony can't give it a try.

In today's standard, this would make a pretty decent PC monitor with the addition of a PS2 for those of us who still enjoy SONY's 18 year old console instead of playing an emulator. One aspect of using this as a PC monitor and PS2 simultaneously, is the ease of not having to travel far with those burnt disc's or USB drives (SwapMagic/MCboot users). 😎

The tv is the stock Sony Bravia 22BX300 which is just a 22" 720p TV with a very basic stand integrated. The PS2 components were most likely from the SCPH-9000x release (2008) which is the release of the PS2 Slim that disabled the "Boot from Memory Card" exploit. As all they needed to do was re-tool the casing for the playstation a bit and run soldered in cables up the "stalk" of the base, I'm pretty sure this was just an easy way to get rid of stock without having to fully design a new tv casing and support system. Frugal and convenient. The fact that the PS2 doesn't even turn on at the same time as the TV indicates that their circuitry is 100% isolated thus all they really did was slam a ps2 in the base of the tv and run cables from one mainboard to the other, oh and a software switch for PS2 power so it could be turned on by the remote ;)

That PS2 remote was absolutely gorgeous. Almost perfect. The styling matched all the systems (less this one). Probably one of the nicest feeling remotes/controllers built up to that point. And, they didn't want a helluva lot for it. The I.R. fob was a little annoying for use on the first generation. Subsequent generations connectivity was flawless, and less obtrusive. I actually was surprised to find that it worked so well, considering that I didn't realize the PS2 2nd Gen Slim had that I.R. "built-in" Great video. This PS2-TV unit is wonderful. I'd love to see that Linux PS2 setup going some day (by Nostalgia Nerd). I don't think there was ever an advert in a promo magazine that I was more excited about. "This thing is a computer too"?

It was not able to detect any digital channels because the TV was build in the DVB-T broadcast standard era. But the channels in the UK broadcast in the DVB-T2 standard. It is not backwards capable. Your antenna was doing its job just fine...

WOw. I saw one of those at Richer Sounds Newcaslte in late december 2010, while playing a gig nearby at the Carling Academy. It puzzled me, as I was (and am) into gaming and never knew hat existed. I did think about buying it on the spot, but I was too excited and shortsighted by GT5 on PS3 to part up with the 230 quid asking price. Nice to randomly find closure to that mistery! Thanks!

Was the PS2 "Emotion Engine" over hyped?
