We may not always agree gamer, but I’m with you on this one-there shouldn’t be any "pro" consoles. It just feels like a cash grab. The first console should be powerful enough, and developers need time to fully optimize and push the system's limits. A PS5 Pro isn’t going to do much except upscale and some bootleg ray tracing.

I legitimately can’t wait to see the reaction when GTA 6 is 30fps only on the Pro due to the lack of a significant CPU upgrade, it’ll only be a year or two until people say the Pro is underpowered and ask for the PS6. I legitimately miss when a console was something that would last 5-7 years without a pointless half cooked upgrade. The only example of this being done right was Xbox One X which was a necessity to keep people on console for Xbox with how genuinely bafflingly underpowered the Xbox One VCR was. That was such an upgrade it was outperforming Series S graphically in some games until a year or so ago. That is not an issue this generation and a lot of these people asking for this want a high end PC but aren’t willing to pay a fraction of the cost. You can’t have your cake and eat it people.

Performance issues and lack of "next-genness" has nothing to do with hardware and everything to do with developers and optimisation, which is demostrable by most games with performance issues (also on PC) getting patched at a later date. The PS5 was more powerful at its release than the PS4. Most third party releases are still cross-gen. Third party devs still aren't utilising the SSD in game design and tbh I have no idea why. But the balooning cost of game development, which has increased exponentially since 2020, probably plays a factor, including in performance issues. There is simply no other explanation as to why Square Enix couldn't manage to run FF7 Rebirth at 60fps without image quality issues when it's essentially a PS4 game, using the exact same technology as Remake, which runs at at 60fps with no problem on PS5. Basically, the developers are more at fault than the hardware. A "Pro" console is not needed and Sony only continues that gimmick because it makes them money. GTA 6 on PS5 will prove us all wrong.

The Original Playstation had a refresh, the PsOne which was a PS1 Slim. PS2 had the PS2 slim. So last summer, my PS5, whenever it was above 80° if I use it for more than like 35 minutes, it would just be a hard crash. I have to unplug the console and plug it back in. I assume it was a heat issue because I had to take it all apart I did a level three cleaning according to a KZbin video and basically dusted everything out and you know I have five six screws so honestly I may just trade in my PS5 for the PS5 Pro if it comes with the disc drive. I've had zero issues after the cleaning, but I've had all the consoles since the Wii and have never had to clean them. PS5 is a first

Playstation has been doing console refreshes since the beginning. The original PS1 is a grey block and the updated psONE has rounded corners. The PS2 also had a refresh with the slim version. Also worth noting that with the current timeline of refreshes occurring like 3-4 years after the initial launch, console players are basically upgrading at the same rate the average PC player replaces their GPU. Spending the same amount (if not more when you add in yearly PS+, stick drifting controllers and full priced games) just to still get worse performance.

PS4 Pro came out 2016 and PS5 was released in 2020, and then the PS5 Pro comes out later this year(if it do released), what would be the point of getting a PS6 when it released? or hell even at all? we still have games releasing for the PS4/Pro even at this late in this generation...
